During the launch of the new ZenFone 4, ASUS had an interesting announcement that users are concerned about: software updates.

ASUS has promised that the entire ZenFone 3 and 4 lineups would get the upcoming Android O. That is, of course, with the latest ZenUI 4.0 on top, which is already present on the ZenFone 4 models. The fourth version of ASUS’ take on the Android system addressed the concerns of users with the number of pre-installed apps. From 35 on ZenUI 3.5, it now has only 13. Yay, right?

It’s unclear, though, if the ZenFone AR will also receive the update, since it doesn’t fall under any of the ZenFone generations.

The company isn’t always the best with this; remember the ZenFone 3 Zoom with Marshmallow and the delayed Android Wear 2.0 update to the ZenWatch 2 and 3?

The Android O update is expected to complete its full rollout to all ZenFone 3 and 4 devices by the second half of 2018. While it’s not exactly up to speed, we hope ASUS fulfills its promise before the next Android version in 2018 arrives.
