ASUS fans in the Philippines can finally breathe easy — and celebrate. And perhaps look at the company with renewed interest and enthusiasm. The ZenFone 3 Max 5.5 has been priced for local retail, just in time for its release two weeks from now.
In case you missed our review, dear, loyal reader, the bigger and better Max with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage will cost P10,995 ($220), or just P2,000 more than the 5.2-inch version, when it makes its local debut. When exactly? We honestly have no idea. But ASUS did tell us to expect it sometime in the second week of December. A higher-end model with 4GB of RAM is also coming to stores soon.
If you haven’t upgraded yet but will do so before the year ends, know that the ZenFone 3 Max 5.5 is one of the best choices out there for the cash-strapped. And if you’re wondering whether it is worth the extra cost, we can assure you that it is. We would even go as far as to say that it’s the best value-for-money ASUS handset right now — a better buy in the long term than the smaller Max and ZenFone 3 Laser.
If you’re coming from a ZenFone 2, you probably won’t notice any difference in day-to-day use, except when it comes to taking photos (the ZenFone 3 Max 5.5 wins this debate without question). But you will immediately notice the improved handling, and the nice feel of cold metal kissing your skin. And you will almost certainly love the redesign.
All of this is to say that the new Max is a truly excellent budget phone. If good things come to those who wait, something like this should suffice.
