As we’ve mention before, flagships from yesteryear are still solid investments. That case is especially true now that the Mate 9 is getting Android Oreo decked with new software features to make it feel new.

Chinese media outlets have reported that Huawei is rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo with the company’s new EMUI 8.0 skin in China. This is the same version the recently launched Mate 10 has.

The update also applies to the Mate 9 Pro and Porsche Edition, both of which released alongside the standard Mate 9. As of the moment, only Chinese variants have been seeing the prompt; international units will have to wait a little longer.

Once you do get the update, you’ll be treated to a host of new features, including improvements to the AI integration and Huawei’s version of PC mode which lets you connect to an external monitor or TV without the need for a separate dock.

Those are on top of all the Oreo goodness that comes prepackaged, so Mate 9 users will feel even better about their investment.
