IFA 2016: Sony Xperia XZ hands-on
Spotting an Xperia has become second nature to most. A flat rear, signature circular camera lens, and pronounced bezels – that’s a Sony smartphone right there. This year’s flagship, the Xperia XZ, is not much different, yet has a lot more in store for camera lovers.
It may seem like the Xperia XZ has the usual 23-megapixel camera from past Sony handsets, but lying beneath the lens is a trio of sensors to aid the phone’s predictive autofocus. This means sharper images when shooting moving subjects, and no needless tapping to get everything in focus.
This isn’t to say the new Xperia is any less exciting to hold or look at. Its full-aluminum build is called ALKALEIDO, which is quite light and a joy to touch. Better yet, it doesn’t take away Sony’s traditional IP68 water and dust resistance rating.
There’s so much more behind Sony’s latest and greatest smartphone to date. You can see the Xperia XZ up close and watch its highlighted features in action in our hands-on video above.
