Ever wanted to know how many people have seen videos you’ve posted on Instagram?

Whether you’re on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, or even Vine, view counts are a usual fare when it comes to online videos. On Instagram however that metric is not available.

But that’s about to change with Instagram promising it will roll out view counters to videos posted on the service in the coming weeks.

The view counters will be located underneath each video post, right where likes (hearts) used to be. You’ll still be able to find out how many people have liked your video by tapping on Views.

Coming soon to Instagram, metrics for your videos.

In a blog post announcing the new feature Instagram said, “We believe video views are the best measure of viewer interest. And we often hear from our community they’d like to better understand how people are engaging with their videos.”

The move is seen as part of efforts to encourage the use of Instagram as a platform for mobile video. Users can post video clips of up to 15-seconds on Instagram. The company promises this is the, “first of many ways you’ll see videos on Instagram get better this year.”
