Xiaomi’s recent barrage of handsets already offer incredible value for their price points, but if rumors for the forthcoming Mi 5c hold true, we may have an even better deal in our sights.
Just as we thought the China-based manufacturer was done releasing smartphones this year, this leaked photo of the phone in question popped up:
With a rumored price of only CNY 999 or $145, the Mi 5c would cost only slightly more than the lower-midrange Redmi 4 Prime, which is tagged at CNY 899 ($133).
The more fascinating part, however, is the possible use of a Xiaomi-designed processor. This is akin to what Samsung, Apple, and Huawei do with their devices in order to split production costs.
Of course, we can’t expect a high-powered chipset here, but it shows how serious the former number-one smartphone brand in China is about taking full control of its designs. It may even open doors for in-house hardware in future flagship phones.
Here’s the source of the information:
Based on translations, there’ll also be 3GB of memory on board, along with 64GB of storage. A 5.5-inch display with an 8-megapixel camera and fingerprint scanner will likely be found in front, while a 12-megapixel snapper will cover the back.
Nothing is confirmed yet, but it’s possible we’ll be seeing the Mi 5c as early as next Wednesday, November 30, based on most reports.
