Samsung launches new and improved Galaxy Z Flip4, Z Fold4
What a thriving foldable lineup!
Samsung is enjoying an unopposed lead in the foldable market. Despite having several years to catch up, other smartphone brands haven’t closed the distance yet, leaving Samsung with a thriving foldable lineup. Today, the brand is looking to extend its lead further, launching the new Galaxy Z Flip4 and the Galaxy Z Fold4.
Galaxy Z Flip4
As expected, Samsung went all out for the new Galaxy Z Flip4. Featuring a slimmer hinge, the foldable device sparkles with a more refined design. Users can also customize their phones using Galaxy Themes for both the Cover and the Main Screen.
Underneath its 6.7-inch FHD+ screen (and 1.9-inch secondary screen), the Galaxy Z Flip4 sports the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage.
At its rear, the smartphone comes with two 12-megapixel rear cameras. While one acts as the main sensor, the other is for ultra-wide shots. In front, the device also comes with a 10-megapixel selfie shooter. Besides using the cameras individually, it also comes with FlexCam, a feature that will allow users to show photos and video hands-free. Users only need to unfold their device partially to access the feature.
And speaking of hands-free, the Galaxy Z Flip4 still lets users access their phones without unfolding their device through the Cover Screen.
For power, the foldable has a 3700mAh battery, which can reportedly charge to 50 percent in just 30 minutes.
Galaxy Z Fold4
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold4 punches an even bigger oomph for power users. The foldable has a larger 7.6-inch main screen (and a 6.2-inch secondary screen), delivering 120Hz refresh rate and an under-display camera. Underneath, it has the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage.
The smartphone also has a triple rear camera consisting of a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera. There’s also a 4-megapixel under-display camera. Finally, in front, it has a 10-megapixel selfie camera.
For power, the device has a 4400mAh dual battery, compatible with Super Fast Charging. It can reportedly charge to 50 percent in just 30 minutes.
Pricing and availability
The Galaxy Z Flip4 will come in four colors: Bora Purple, Graphite, Pink Gold, and Blue. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold4 will come in Graygreen, Beige, and Phantom Black.
Both devices will start selling on August 26. The Galaxy Z Flip4 will start at US$ 999.99, and the Galaxy Z Fold4 will start at US$ 1,799.99.

The iPhone 18 might sell out for an unexpected reason
The ongoing shortage might play a part in the phone selling out earlier than expected.
An iPhone selling out is not news. Because of how popular the phones are, it’s within the realm of probability that Apple runs out of stock at some point. According to a new report, this year won’t be any different… but it’s for an entirely different reason.
First reported by analyst Tim Culpan, Apple is reportedly struggling to meet its demand for semiconductors for the iPhone 18 and the foldable iPhone. The ongoing memory shortage is cutting off Apple’s ability to deliver the required supply of smartphones in a timely fashion. The report even claims that TSMC, which helps produce the iPhone, is sitting on a shipment of processors, worth US$ 1 billion, that don’t have memory chips.
Now, Apple is still confident that it can weather the launch. However, if the shortage persists, the iPhone 18 generation will likely sell out much more quickly than expected.
It’s an interesting time for Apple to experience such a shortage. It’s been heavily rumored that the company will launch its very first foldable phone next month, creating a new market for the brand. Apple definitely wants this attempt to succeed after the tepid response to its last new product, the Vision Pro.
