iOS 14 rumored to roll out to old iPhones

Every year, smartphone users quietly hope for their device’s continued support. Will they get the major update for the year? Of course, every year is a guessing game until you get it.

A new rumor is taking away some of the mystery for Apple users. According to a French source, the upcoming iOS 14 will roll out to the same update list as last year’s iOS 13. Effectively, if your iPhone received the iOS 13 update, your device will also get this year’s update — from last year’s iPhones to those from the iPhone 6 series.

The rumored full list is as follows: iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 11, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone SE. Besides the iPhone lineup, it also includes the 7th-generation iPod Touch.

Meanwhile, the rumored iPadOS 14 list loses a few devices this year. The full list includes: 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 11-inch iPad Pro, 10.5-inch iPad Pro, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, 7^th-generation iPad, 6^th-generation iPad, 5^th-generation iPad, 5^th-generation iPad mini, and 3^rd-generation iPad Air. Compared to last year, this list doesn’t include the 4^th-generation iPad mini or the 2^nd-generation iPad Air.

Of course, both lists don’t include this year’s set of iPhones and iPads. Naturally, every phone launching this year will support the upcoming iOS 14. Apple will likely launch the new update at this year’s WWDC event in July.

Once again, both lists are currently just rumors. Apple can still change the full list before the software’s launch.
