Apple, OPPO most popular brands in Singapore, Philippines – study
Huawei hovers in the top 3 for both countries
A recent study by online shopping aggregator site iPrice reveals that OPPO is the most searched brand in the Philippines while Apple leads the way in Singapore making the two the most popular brands in the mentioned countries. The study used two factors that determine a brand’s popularity — the retail price of a smartphone and the annual household income.
OPPO leads the way in the Philippines
OPPO, which is currently launched the Find X2 Pro and has been marketing its Reno series, leads the way as the most popular brand in the Philippines. Its most expensive smartphone — OPPO Find X2 Pro — retails for PhP 65,990. Meanwhile, its cheapest is OPPO A5s which retails for PhP 6,990. The brand had been known to cater to the budget and midrange segment more but has recently been trying to make waves in the more premium pricing segment.
In a country with an annual income of PhP 460,000, brands that offer plenty of midrange smartphones appear to be really popular. This is the case for Vivo which ranks third in popularity.
Apple dominates Singapore
This one’s not so surprising. Singapore has a much higher annual household income than the Philippines. Thus, Singaporeans are much inclined to search for expensive brands like Apple and Samsung. Apple came out on top, followed closely by Samsung. These brands offer expensive flagships that anyone with a higher income can afford.
Interestingly, a Google Trends search on the terms Apple, iPhone, and OPPO both in Singapore and the Philippines over the last 12 months reveal that the iPhone dominates the search by a wide margin. This could mean that while people consider the price when it comes to actual purchase, they still religiously follow news about Apple’s iPhone.
Huawei ranks consistently among the top 3
Huawei fared consistently on both countries’ most popular smartphone brands. It ranked second in the Philippines, while it ranked third in Singapore. There are many factors to Huawei ranking among the top 3 for both countries. Huawei has offerings across all price ranges and has been a consistent force in the premium segment in recent years.
Huawei offers flagship with prices comparable to Apple and Samsung. However, it remains competitive in the budget segment by offering budget-friendly and reliable smartphones. The Huawei Y5 Lite sells for PhP 3,990 in the Philippines, while Y6s retails for SG$ 178 in Singapore.
Huawei also churns out many midrange smartphones that can compete with offerings from midrange brands too. Combined with an established presence in both countries, it’s no wonder the company is popular in both the Philippines and Singapore.
Xiaomi makes significant progress
Xiaomi’s push in the Southeast Asian market is paying off, and the study supports that. In Singapore, where Xiaomi has long established its presence, the company snagged the fourth place, edging out the likes of OPPO and Vivo. The company has been aggressive in pushing out smartphones at an affordable and competitive price, and it shows.
In the Philippines, however, Xiaomi lands at the fifth spot still behind Apple. The company continues to gain popularity as it expands its stores beyond major urban areas in the country.
The study shows how brands with compelling midrange phones have become successful by offering near flagship smartphones at an affordable price. However, flagship smartphones still occupy a place in society. People with deep pockets will sway towards buying a flagship. After all, they just want the best smartphone their money can buy.
After Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, it’s safe to say that the foldable wars are finally on. Apple and Android fans are now drawing the battle lines between their respective devices. Now, for the smartphone makers themselves, it’s time for Samsung to prepare its next salvo. Right on cue, a new leak has hinted that the South Korean brand is preparing for its most extensive foldable lineup next year, including a mysterious device called the Galaxy Z Slide.
Based on a new leak on X, Samsung is reportedly launching a total of six foldable devices next year. Naturally, three of those are the next iterations of Samsung’s main foldable lineup: Galaxy Z Fold9, Fold9 Ultra, and Flip9.
A fourth device, however, teases a sequel to the Galaxy Z TriFold. Earlier this year, Samsung launched its first tri-fold device. Although, despite the hype, the TriFold never really made it as a consumer-ready device, opting instead for a limited release for early adopters. A second release might mean that Samsung is ready to unleash a friendlier device next year, which the leak claims will be the first one out the gate.
Now, the other two releases are more of a mystery. For one, Samsung is allegedly launching a Galaxy Z Fold9 Pro, presumably a middle ground between the passport-style and the book-style foldable.
Finally, the sixth device (and arguably the most mysterious) is something called the Galaxy Z Slide. If true, the Slide will likely introduce an all-new form factor for the lineup. If anything, though, we know that Samsung has been experimenting with sliding screens. Is this what the Slide will look like?

Apple CEO John Ternus was not kidding when he said his company is getting more regular releases during his tenure. Now, so soon after their last event, Ternus is once again gearing up for yet another event. On October 28, Apple is holding an event called “Pro and Tell.”
As with Apple’s other events, the event’s name is supposed to give a hint as to what’s coming on October 28. However, “Pro and Tell” is quite a puzzle, especially since the brand already launched the iPhone 18 Pro duo just las month. What other Pro devices is Apple hatching?
So far, the brand still has a few segments untouched this year. Given the naming, this event might see the debuts of a new MacBook and a new iPad. Both of which, after all, have Pro devices.
For context, Apple has just finished its “Welcome Home” event a few weeks ago, unveiling their new home collection. Before that, the brand launched the iPhone 18 Pro series and the iPhone Duo. Since starting his term, Ternus has turned the formerly quiet Apple into one of the most active brands in the tech space, hosting three events in quick succession.
Besides those events, Apple is still set to release the iPhone Duo later this month. The brand isn’t done yet.
When you get your hands on a foldable phone, you should be able to expect a large battery. After all, powering two screens takes some juice. The numbers, however, might not be what you’d expect. Today, an official energy label has confirmed that the newest entry in the foldable space, the iPhone Duo, touts only a 4883mAh battery.
As required by Europe, new smartphones have to publish their information for transparency. Apple is no different. In its label for the iPhone Duo, the company listed 4883mAh as the official capacity of its very first foldable phone. Previous rumors have likewise speculated that the device will have two battery cells totalling the above rating.
If we’re talking relative capacity, a sub-5000mAh battery feels too low for such a big device. But does that mean that users will run into battery issues? Right now, it’s too early to tell.
Despite the size, the device itself might be efficient when it comes to managing battery life. For reference, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra has a 5000mAh battery but still offers impressive battery life for all-day use. And besides, the iPhone Duo’s folded screen is much smaller than other phones. Since users will likely stick with the smaller screen most of the time, the smaller battery should still last the whole day.
