Lenovo Legion lineup gets an upgrade with new AMD Ryzen chipsets

Lenovo’s Legion lineup is known for its gaming capabilities and has garnered a fan following of its own. In the last handful of years, Intel has powered most of the computers ever built, but it always seemed to lag behind in the gaming department. With AMD’s Ryzen series, things are rapidly changing and Lenovo has accordingly updated their product offering.

Lenovo Legion 5

Starting with the Lenovo Legion 5, it comes in two display size options — 15.6-inches and 17.-3-inches. Both the screens have a 144Hz refresh rate and Full HD resolution. It is available in multiple configurations, with the top variant sporting Ryzen 7 4800 H-series processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU.

It can house up to 16GB DDR4 RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. On the cooling front, it has Lenovo Legion Coldfront 2.0 thermals along with a TrueStrike keyboard that offers more keyboard travel.

Lastly, the company claims it can provide 7.5 hours of run time on a single charge. The base variant (17-inch) shall cost US$ 1089 and start shipping from September 2020. The 15-inch option will start atUS$ 1019 and ship from August 2020.

Lenovo Legion 5P

The Lenovo Legion 5P, on the other hand, gets a 15.6-inch display and sports the same CPU and GPU as the Legion 5. However, it runs Dual Burn support that leverages the CPU and GPU simultaneously to improve framerates. With Lenovo Q-Control 3.0, the user can quickly switch between performance modes.

It can sport up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and 1TB of SSD internal storage. Lastly, Lenovo claims it can deliver up to eight hours of usage on a single charge. However, it won’t be going on sale in North America.

Ideapad Gaming 3

IdeaPad Gaming 3 is an affordable gaming laptop has a 15.6-inch display, can support up to AMD Ryzen 7 4800 H-series processor, and optional 120Hz display. The GPU is bumped down to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti, but it can house up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and 1GB of SSD storage. It’ll start at US$ 659 and start shipping from July 2020.

Lenovo Legion Tower 5

If you’re looking for a more powerful gig, the Lenovo Legion Tower 5 can get up to AMD Ryzen 93950X desktop processor with 16 cores. Coupled along is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 GPU that can churn out 4K framerates. It can support 2x 1TB SSDs along with 2x 2TB hard drives and 128GB DDR4 RAM.

The side panels are transparent and LED lighting within the cabinet offers more customization options to the user. For cooling, a 150W CPU cooling fan is attached and one can opt for an optional 200W liquid cooling system. The base option shall cost US$ 829 and availability starts from October 2020.

IdeaCenter Gaming 5

Lastly, the IdeaCentre Gaming 5 desktop can offer up to AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processor along with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GPU. It has Dolby Audio support and can sport up to 32GB RAM. However, it won’t be going on sale in North America.

Every year, Apple launches its back-to-school promos where students and educators can snag devices with great discounts or freebies. This year, every purchase of a Mac, Macbook, or an iPad will come with free AirPods.

Students on the lookout for discounted Apple devices should check out Apple’s education store right away. The company is giving away free AirPods with every purchase of eligible Mac and iPad models this July. The giveaway is available for eligible students and educators, and they can shop for discounted Macs and iPads on top of the giveaway.

Eligible Mac models include the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and iMac Pro. Meanwhile, the only eligible iPad models are iPad Pro and iPad Air. Apple is bundling AirPods 2 with a wired charging case for every purchase of eligible models. However, those opting for a wireless charging case or an AirPods Pro can opt for a US$ 159 credit. As such, the AirPods Pro is only US$ 90 with this promo.

Lenovo Legion 5, Legion Tower 5i coming to Philippines

Last April, Lenovo revealed its latest additions to the Legion lineup. The Legion 5 is a gaming laptop featuring the latest Intel and AMD processor. Meanwhile, the Legion 5i is a desktop that aims to provide the best performance for gamers. All these are coming to the Philippines, along with the budget contender IdeaPad Gaming 5i.

To celebrate the arrival of new Legion computers, Lenovo is offering a promo this July. Customers pre-order any of the three new PCs from June 26 to July 11 will receive Legion accessories worth up to PhP 10,000. These new PCs are also entitled to an extended three-year warranty and support from Lenovo.

Legion 5

Legion 5 is Lenovo’s latest Legion line-up for the budget-conscious gamers. Despite its budget proposition, it didn’t skip on features. The base model has an AMD Ryzen 4800H processor coupled with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage. It packs some serious graphics capabilities with its NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060. The 15.6 FHD display features a 120Hz refresh rate and 1ms response times for buttery-smooth gameplay.

Every pre-orders for the PC comes with a free Recon gaming backpack (worth PhP 2,995), M300 gaming mouse (worth PhP 1,495), K300 gaming keyboard (worth PHP 2,495), and H300 gaming headset (worth PHP 2,995). Legion 5i starts at PhP 52,995.

Legion Tower 5i

Gamers looking for their first gaming rig should look no further than Legion Tower 5i. This gaming desktop is built to satisfy the needs and demands of the most demanding gamers. Lenovo packed the latest 10th-gen Intel Core processors on this rig and configured it for up to 64Gb of memory and 2TB of SSD storage. Powering this PC is an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER graphics card built to handle the most graphically intensive games and apps.

It also features a sleek and minimalist chassis with a Legion LED logo on the front. Gamers don’t have to complain about ports since it has USB-C, USB-A, audio combo jack, and even an Ethernet port.

Lenovo is bundling the K500 gaming keyboard (worth PhP 3,995) and the M500 gaming mouse (worth PhP 2,995) on every pre-orders. Every pre-orders of the PC comes with an IdeaPad gaming backpack (worth PhP 1,995), IdeaPad Gaming M100 mouse (worth PhP 1,295), and K300 gaming keyboard (worth PhP 2,495). The best part about the PC is its low price: it starts at PhP 46,995.

What do you get for the price? Lenovo packed competitive specs for the IdeaPad Gaming 5i.  There’s an Intel Core i7-10750H processor inside, along with 8GB of memory and 1TB HDD or 512GB SSD.
