ROG Ally

We already knew that ASUS is working on a gaming handheld that shall rival the Steam Deck. What we didn’t know is the exact specs that the ROG Ally will be packing. However, Android Authority caught wind of a couple of Twitter users who seemed to have leaked the specs of the upcoming handheld console.

Based on the leak, these are what we can expect from the ROG Ally: a custom AMD Ryzen Z1 series chipset, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and 512GB SSD storage with a microSD slot for expansion.

The device also gets all the benefits of ROG’s Intelligent Cooling technology too. The Full HD screen has 500 nits of peak brightness. It’s capable of up to a 120Hz refresh rate with ultra-fast response time of up to 7ms.

A wide repertoire of titles can be enjoyed. The Windows 11 OS-running device supports Xbox Game Pass, Steam, Epic Games Store, and EA Play.

The device is said to weigh 608 gram. Lighter than the Steam Deck (669 grams).

Given its specs the ROG Ally seems to be a Steam Deck competitor more than it is a rival for the Razer Edge or Logitech G Cloud; both put premium on streaming as well, while the ROG Ally is looking to focus on the gaming aspect solely.
