A big Apple event is happening on September 15
Is this the iPhone 12?
A few days ago, a few leakers unveiled the existence of an Apple event this week. Though the details were murky, most speculation hovered around the announcement of a big Apple launch event, rather than the event itself. Now, we finally know what that event is. Apple has released the official invites. A big Apple event is happening on September 15.
Through the invite, Apple has officially announced the “Time Flies” launch event for September 15. Naturally, the invite does not reveal what is coming on September 15. However, it does come with a neat little Easter egg. Though the event itself is straightforward, AR users can use Apple’s ARKit to morph the swirly Apple logo into the “9.15” launch date.
Of note, invite designers don’t usually know the purpose of the invite ahead of making them. That said, it’s hard to surmise if augmented reality is an important facet of the upcoming event. With the amount of devices on Apple’s docket right now, the invite can pertain to anything. This includes a new iPad, a new Apple Watch, or even the upcoming iPhone 12 series. If anything, the “Time Flies” moniker can apply to the Apple Watch. But Apple wouldn’t hold a huge event just for smartwatches, right?
As before, the upcoming event is online-only. The company’s previous online-only event met with much approval from attendees.
If Apple is launching anything huge for this event, it might come with a little caveat. As reported before, the company (and some analysts) are foreseeing some coronavirus-borne delays for the coming months.
