Garmin Forerunner 965, 265: Price, availability in the Philippines

It’s been two decades since Garmin unveiled the world’s first GPS smartwatch. Since then, Garmin’s Forerunner series has been a staple to the running community; an essential for beginners, intermediate, and even elite runners.

In line with this momentous celebration, Garmin debuts the most powerful Forerunner smartwatches yet — the Forerunner 965 and Forerunner 265.

Forerunner 965 series

The Forerunner 965 is Garmin’s newest, premium running watch in its roster. It’s equipped with a titanium bezel, a 1.4-inch AMOLED display, and a battery life of up to 23 days.

It’s currently a record-holder for having the world’s longest battery life on a running watch with an AMOLED display.

It comes with unique features such as Stamina and Acute Chronic Workload Ration, allowing users to track and manage their physical exertion throughout a run. The feature aims to prevent ‘bonking’ by overexerting too early in a run.

The Garmin Forerunner 965 is designed for marathon and triathlon enthusiasts, particularly those who benefit from features like the Wrist-Based Running Dynamic where users can access detailed metrics such as stride length and vertical oscillation.

It retails at PhP 37,660 and will be available in the Philippines starting April 2023

Forerunner 265 series

The Garmin Forerunner 265 series comes with a Gorilla Glass 4 lens with two options for users to choose from. Pick between the 1.3-inch AMOLED display with a battery life of up to 13 days or a 1.1-inch AMOLED display (on the Forerunner 265s) with a battery life of up to 15 days.

Like other Forerunner smartwatches, the Forerunner 265 has performance monitoring tools from Garmin Firstbeast Analytics such as VO2 max, performance condition, training effect, and more.

The Garmin Forerunner 265 retails at PhP 28,250.

Garmin Run Club

In case you didn’t know, Garmin brings people together through its Garmin Run Club. In its Manila leg, Season 3 started last February and will run until May 2023. It’s held at Toby’s Sports Bonifacio Global City every Monday and Thursday at 7 in the evening.

Garmin-accredited coaches such as Precious Que, Jules Aquino, and Jasper Tanhueco lead the program.

Samsung joins the clip-on earbud trend with the Galaxy Buds On

Audio wearables have been getting makeovers as of late. Besides the traditional form factors, the segment is experimenting with bone conduction and clip-on headphones. Today, Samsung is joining that trend with the Galaxy Buds On.

Debuting in South Korea, the Galaxy Buds On is Samsung’s first-ever clip-on earbuds. You’re likely familiar with how these earbuds look like, having seen them grace the ears of many a passerby today. Instead of plugging right into your ear canals, they actually do clip onto your earlobes. Samsung’s take, however, is a little bit heftier, which the brand claims gives it a wider surface area to balance the weight for your ears.

Additionally, the new earbuds has a TwinBoost speaker system. While the system adds better bass to the earbuds, it also adds automatic voice adjustments to better attune the sound according to your environment. It also has an Audio Leakage Reduction feature, so others won’t be able to hear what you’re listening to.

The Galaxy Buds On has a charging case almost identical to the Galaxy Buds4 case. Powered by the Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 Sound Platform, the earbuds can reportedly last up to 9.5 hours on a single charge.

Right now, the wearable is exclusive to South Korea, but Samsung says that a global rollout will happen in the future. In South Korea, the Galaxy Buds On costs KRW 299,000 (or approximately US$ 220).
