Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) has just announced refreshed models of their second best-selling car, the 7-Seater BR-V at the City of Dreams Manila in Parañaque City.

From the old 1.5 Touring CVT, it now has two variants: The 1.5 S CVT and the 1.5 V CVT.

The exterior already shows changes; it has a sleeker design that makes it stand out from afar. The two new iterations now feature a chrome front grille and updated front and rear bumpers. The 16-inch alloy wheels also have a new design.

They both feature reverse cameras which are helpful for parking on blind spots. The company has also kept the already existing roof rail, halogen headlamps, and fog lights.

They are both equipped with 7-inch touchscreen displays, but the higher-end V model supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The interior may look similar with a refreshed Dark Steel color, but the 1.5 V CVT features a more premium leather interior with red leather trims and red accents to complement its overall look.

Both of them still feature a spacious cabin with enough headroom and leg space for its passengers.

Under the hood, it has a 1.5-liter i-VTEC engine mated with Honda’s very own Earth Dreams Technology Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) which promises a fuel-efficient driving and smooth-sailing experience.

For convenience, 1.5 V CVT comes with a Smart Entry with Push Start System and Paddle Shifters. The ECON mode and eco-coaching ambient lights remind drivers to drive more efficiently.

Added technology systems make this car better: the G-Force Control (G-CON) Collision Safety Body, Driver and Front Passenger SRS Airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), and Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock are all helpful in avoiding fatalities. You also get Hill Start Assist (HSA) and Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) for added safety measure.

To ensure your child’s safety at all times, 2019 BR-V now features ISOFIX anchors to securely latch a child’s seat. It also has a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating in the category of Adult Occupancy Protection (AOP).

The all-new Honda BR-V is now available in 36 Honda dealerships nationwide with the following suggested retail prices:

  • 1.5 V CVT at PhP 1,155,000
  • 1.5 S CVT at PhP 1,035,000

There are several colors to choose from: Lunar Silver Metallic and Modern Silver Metallic are available for both variants. There are also two new colors limited to the 1.5 V CVT: Passion Red Pearl and the PhP 20,000-worth Platinum White Pearl. Meanwhile, Taffeta White is only available for the 1.5 S CVT, while the Premium Amber Metallic is now available on the same variant.

This lady ‘made’ the first-ever Tesla pickup truck

It actually looks nice

Published

Simone Giertz, a YouTuber and engineer, converted her Tesla Model 3 into a fully-functioning pickup truck. People have been anticipating the upcoming futuristic electric truck from Tesla but this lady has beaten Elon Musk to the punch…technically.

Giertz has always wanted a pickup truck and she likes Tesla vehicles as well. Not being able to wait for the official introduction of Musk’s truck, she decided to take matters into her own hands. Literally.

With the help of her friends, they stripped the Tesla Model 3 of its interior, tore the rear portion of the car, and loaded a truck bed on its back. An entertaining documentation is available on her channel and it shows the planning and actual process of turning a brand new Model 3 into what they now call Truckla — derived from “truck” and “Tesla”.

It’s even complete with its own promotional video set in the countryside complete with farm animals and Giertz whipping up a lasso. Pretty entertaining stuff.

Since it’s “available nowhere”, we still have to wait for Elon’s official Tesla truck. If you ask us, though, we wouldn’t mind having a compact version like Truckla if it had the capabilities of a truck in that sleek body.

What makes the 2020 Range Rover Evoque one of the safest vehicles in the market?

It boasts a five-star safety rating

Published

on

Just recently, the 2020 Range Rover has been introduced to the Philippine market. And while it’s got the latest tech to make the riding experience easier and more comfortable, it’s also considered to be one of the safest vehicles available right now.

For starters, its Euro-spec model has received the highest possible rating (five stars) from the Euro NCAP safety rating. According to reports, testers were particularly impressed with its automatic emergency braking for pedestrian and cyclist detection.

They then added that the Evoque performed really well in all tested areas. These include frontal-impact tests, moderate overlap tests, side-impact tests, and more. Check out this video from Euro NCAP showing the Evoque undergo rigorous crash tests.

Apart from keeping the driver and passengers safe, the Range Rover Evoque is also safer for the environment. It uses a low-friction engine design which the company says has reduced nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by 90%. It is also the first luxury compact SUV to be certified for emitting 80mg/km or less of pollution — passing the Real Driving Emissions stage 2 (RDE2) legislation in Europe.

This also certifies the Evoque for more than a year ahead of RDE2’s scheduled implementation on all new vehicles by 2020.

Adding to that is the fact that the SUV comes in a Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle (MHEV) option that allows you to maximize your fuel efficiency. The less gas you burn during your drive, the less pollution you emit.

Apart from those performances and achievements, the Evoque also boasts technologies that further ensure safety of those inside and outside the vehicle. We previously mentioned the company’s ClearSight Rear View Mirror that works when the rear view is obstructed and the world’s first Ground View technology for squeezing in tight spaces.

Together, all these work together to and make the Range Rover Evoque one of the safest vehicles available in the market today.
