Google has started migrating Fitbit users to its services
Aiming for complete migration by 2025
It’s been a long time, but we’re finally here. Google has started migrating Fitbit accounts into its own services. Starting in the summer this year, users can start using their Google accounts to log into Fitbit.
Since acquiring the wearable company, it’s been a constant mystery to see how Google was going to integrate Fitbit into its own web of products and services. Integration has always been in the works, but the company has not officially announced when it was going to happen.
Today, Google has officially announced that the migration is still on schedule. With no conclusive date, Fitbit users can start logging in with their Google accounts in a few months. New users can also sign up for Fitbit’s services using the same method.
Since both are under the same company, using Google to sign up for Fitbit is a good sign of convenience for those who use both. However, while it’s just an option for now, the company will eventually force users to only use their Google accounts for the service. The company is targeting 2025 for full migration.
It’s been a rough transition for Fitbit users, though. Over the past few months, Google started sunsetting a few services from Fitbit including community challenges. With the rise of the Pixel Watch, it’s becoming more apparent that Google’s own products might soon overtake Fitbit in prominence.

The iPhone 18 might sell out for an unexpected reason
The ongoing shortage might play a part in the phone selling out earlier than expected.
An iPhone selling out is not news. Because of how popular the phones are, it’s within the realm of probability that Apple runs out of stock at some point. According to a new report, this year won’t be any different… but it’s for an entirely different reason.
First reported by analyst Tim Culpan, Apple is reportedly struggling to meet its demand for semiconductors for the iPhone 18 and the foldable iPhone. The ongoing memory shortage is cutting off Apple’s ability to deliver the required supply of smartphones in a timely fashion. The report even claims that TSMC, which helps produce the iPhone, is sitting on a shipment of processors, worth US$ 1 billion, that don’t have memory chips.
Now, Apple is still confident that it can weather the launch. However, if the shortage persists, the iPhone 18 generation will likely sell out much more quickly than expected.
It’s an interesting time for Apple to experience such a shortage. It’s been heavily rumored that the company will launch its very first foldable phone next month, creating a new market for the brand. Apple definitely wants this attempt to succeed after the tepid response to its last new product, the Vision Pro.
