Honor CEO confirms Snapdragon 888 Plus phone is coming

Called Magic3

When Honor finally split off from Huawei, the Chinese company also freed itself from the latter’s American-born restrictions. As was rumored earlier this year, Honor gained the ability to use formerly banned components including Snapdragon chipsets. Today, Honor has confirmed that its next slew smartphone will indeed have the latest Snapdragon 888 Plus chipset.

In a recent talk during the Global CEO Tech Talk, Honor CEO George Zhao teased the upcoming Magic3 series. As mentioned above, the biggest revelation was the series’ chipset. The series will wield the year’s top Snapdragon chipset once it launches. Both the Magic3 and the Magic3 Pro will come with the processor.

Besides the processor, Zhao also revealed another meaning to the series’ name. Magic refers to “magic hour,” a sweet spot for photographers to take photos. It’s the 15- to 20-minute window before sunset and after sunrise wherein the sky is lit up just right to take astonishing photos. It often results in a pink or pink-gold sky.

The naming scheme suggests that the series will focus on photography as well. We’ll need more information about the camera to tell.

However, amid the camera’s uncertainty, Zho confirms that “magic hour” informs how the series’ two colors are called: Blue Hour and Golden Hour.

Pixel 7 design officially teased, price leaked

A week before the debut

A week before the next flagship’s launch, Google wants to make sure that there are absolutely no secrets going into the debut of the Pixel 7. Throughout the past few months, the company sprinkled bits and pieces about the upcoming smartphone series, slowly revealing its spec sheet even before the official launch. Now, one of the final teasers has revealed the smartphone from top to bottom.

In a new video simply called “The Design of Google Pixel 7 Pro,” Google has shown how all three color options will look like. Viewers will also see how the design differs from the Pixel 6 series.

Presumably different from the regular Pixel 7, the Pro model has a metal camera island stretching across the rear panel. It will also have a glossy metal frame covering its entire side. As for the colors, the smartphone will come in Obsidian (or black), Snow (or white), and Hazel (or light green).

Besides the design, the flagship series has popped up regularly through leaks and official teasers. If all the leaks are right, it will come with the new Tensor G2 chipset, up to 256GB of RAM, and almost the same camera combination as the Pixel 6 series.

Further, in a new report recently (via Brandon Lee), the Pixel 7 reportedly popped up on Amazon for a brief second, revealing the series’ price tags. It will retain the same price as its predecessor. The regular model costs US$ 599. Meanwhile, the Pixel 7 Pro costs US$ 899. No word on a price drop for the Pixel 6 series, though.
