Monster Hunter Wilds

Capcom has released the second trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds at the Summer Game Fest 2024. The two-minute video showcases a glimpse of the upcoming hack-and-slash, action RPG’s game experience, combining gameplay and story developments.

Monster Hunter Wilds is currently in active development to dynamically and richly depict the story woven by the characters and monsters. The game will be available in 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

New Leviathan species

The trailer starts with an intense chase, wherein two hunters are being attacked by the Balahara. This new Leviathan species inhabits sandy areas, and can move smoothly through sand with its serpentine body. Moreover, it uses mucus secretions to attack enemies and can set up quicksand traps for preys. It can also pick up its prey’s scent.

For a bit, viewers can also see the Balahara attacking the Doshaguma in the Forbidden Lands. These territorial battles between monsters is an aspect of the upcoming title players should understand, so they can gain an advantage.

Hunters can make use of the Seikret as well, which they can ride to escape the Balaharas. The Seikret also automatically evade monster attacks. While riding, players may also use their weapons to fend off approaching packs.

Towards the end of the clip, another mysterious large monster can be seen unleashing electric attacks against a Doshaguma. This adds another layer of challenge for hunters as they try to maneuver their way across the game’s sandy terrains.

Cross-platform play, more updates

Capcom has also announced that the game will have cross-platform play. This will allow players to match with others across all available platforms.

The next major Monster Hunter Wilds update will be revealed at gamescom Opening Night Live 2024 in August. The first playable experience will likewise be available at the venue.

God of War Laufey finally confirms its highly anticipated launch date

Set your calendars next year.

Published

on

It’s about time we get excited for God of War Laufey. The upcoming entry into the acclaimed franchise takes off on a tangent as it follows Faye, Kratos’s late wife, as she traverses an afterlife filled with similarly deceased gods. It’s a different perspective but with still the same action we’ve come to expect from the series. Now, we know when to expect it: February 16.

In the ongoing Norse saga, Faye’s death is everything. Her passing pushes Kratos and Atreus towards a path that eventually led to Ragnarok. In Laufey, a deceased Faye wakes up in Everywhen, an afterlife where gods from different mythologies converge. She then discovers that the carefully laid plans she made to help her husband and her son are unravelling, so she has to find a way to save the living world from past the veil.

Laufey will still have the iconic battles that the God of War series is known for. However, because Faye is nimbler than the burly Kratos, fighting is more fast-paced with a mix of grounded and air-based fighting. All in all, there’s a lot to be excited about for Laufey, despite its different take on the series.

Over the weekend, during San Diego Comic Con, PlayStation confirmed when the title is launching. Thankfully, it’s not a long wait. God of War Laufey is launching for the PlayStation 5 on February 16 next year.

Additionally, Santa Monica Studio has also confirmed that Kratos will lead another entry after Laufey.
