Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion announced

Taking hunting to new heights

Capcom has finally announced a massive new expansion update for Monster Hunter Wilds during the Summer Game Fest 2026 showcase.

The announcement was accompanied by a spectacular debut trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, which is officially scheduled for release in 2027.

The reveal delivered a first look at the content-rich expansion, showcasing a mix of brand-new and returning monsters, refined gameplay mechanics, and a breathtaking high-altitude locale.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance advances the core story of the Forbidden Lands as the Expedition Team’s adventure soars to a new world set amongst the clouds called The Skybound Eyrie.

In this floating territory, hunters will explore treacherous islands in the sky and wield explosive new abilities that take the hunting action to literal new heights.

More convenient exploration

To help players navigate these vertical environments, Capcom is introducing highly requested quality-of-life adjustments.

Improved support elements available while out in the field and during active quests will make map exploration much more accessible.

The Seikret, your trusty animal mount, is also getting enhanced actions. Players can look forward to improved response times when calling their mount, alongside a brand-new glide dash ability.

This is perfect for leaping between the floating islands of the Skybound Eyrie.

Expanded combat with Boost Actions

Combat is getting a major upgrade through the all-new Boost Bracer feature, which will be available across all 14 weapon types.

During combat, hunters can temporarily gather energy directly from monsters to execute powerful Boost Actions.

Unleashing this energy grants enhanced attack power, a massive boost in mobility, and seamless combat coordination.

Furthermore, completely new attacks and combo routes have been added to the core controls, giving hunters entirely new ways to master their weapons of choice and dominate the battlefield.

The return of Elder Dragons and Master Rank

The challenge in Ascendance will rise to a whole new level with the arrival of Master Rank content.

New threats are rising in the Eastlands, and the emergence of catastrophic Elder Dragons promises to bring destruction to the ecosystem.

The trailer specifically showcased a hunter facing off against the iconic wind-wielding Elder Dragon, Kushala Daora.

Keen-eyed fans also noticed a mysterious silhouette at the end of the footage, sparking theories that another popular, colossal Elder Dragon from the series’ history is slated to return.

Call of Duty, Aston Martin unveil Dreadnought for Modern Warfare 4

A mobile fortress available to locate in key areas

Call of Duty and Aston Martin revealed the Aston Martin Dreadnought, a bespoke, in-game SUV concept specially created for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.

Developed by Aston Martin’s design team in collaboration with the game’s developers and publishers, the Dreadnought pairs supercar-level performance and a full-blooded V12 engine with a military-grade armored exterior.

This configuration makes it the most aggressive all-wheel drive vehicle in the title.

Built as a mobile fortress rather than a joyride, it is designed to push objectives, save teammates under fire, and drive straight through contested ground while its armor plating absorbs heavy incoming damage.

Ground in the physics of the Modern Warfare universe, the unapologetic, uncompromising tactical SUV delivers a stunning exploration of extreme visual language. At the same time, it brings an engaging and dynamic player experience.

Its striking form has been imaged for elite tactical performance, with optimized aerodynamics and fully integrated digital command interfaces.

The exquisite design details emphasize the Dreadnought’s high luxury heritage. There’s the herringbone weave of the exterior carbon fiber, as well as the Oxford Tan leather dashboard, door panel details, and metallic gold gear lever.

Players will be able to locate the Dreadnought in key points of interest within both DMZ and Call of Duty: Warzone modes.

Fans got to see a full-size physical interpretation of the Dreadnought at Fanatics Fest NYC, ahead of its in-game debut on 23 October.

In other news, Call of Duty movie director and co-writer Peter Berg revealed that the film will be set in the Modern Warfare universe.
