Packs a lot of new features

Prepare for a sudden wave of déjà vu. If you’ve read about the launch of the OPPO Find N3, you might find this new foldable all too familiar. Today, launching alongside OPPO’s aforementioned device, OnePlus has launched the OnePlus Open.

Extensive display

On its own, the OnePlus Open has a 5.8mm frame. The cover screen is a 6.31-inch 2K 120Hz AMOLED display, touting a 1400nit high brightness mode for maximum readability in bright daylight.

When opened, the device expands to a large 11.7mm body. The main screen is just as good: a 7.82-inch 2K 120Hz AMOLED display built with three layers of protection including ultra-thin glass, layer TPU, and an anti-reflection screen protector.

Under the hood

Under the hood, the OnePlus Open sports the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 512GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage. It will also have Wi-Fi 7 and dual 5G connectivity options.

For battery, the foldable comes with a 4805mAh battery, compatible with 67W SUPERVOOC fast charging.

The OnePlus Open also puts a premium in smartphone photography. It will debut the new Sony LYT-T808 48-megapixel main camera. Bolstered by Sony’s Pixel Stacked technology, the new camera boasts a 1/1.43-inch sensor and a 1.12μm pixel size.

Additionally, the foldable will come with a 64-megapixel telephoto camera, capable of extending focal lengths from 0.6x to a whopping 120x Ultra Res Zoom.

The new OxygenOS 13.2

Powering the smartphone, the OnePlus Open will come with the new OxygenOS 13.2 out of the box. The update will come with a new feature called Open Canvas. Through this feature, users can arrange up to four separate windows on the screen. Plus, they can extend each window without limits, going off well beyond the confines of the screen.

Besides Open Canvas, the update will also have a new taskbar set at the bottom of the main display. Users can configure their favorite apps and open recent files.

Price, availability

The OnePlus Open will come in Voyager Black and Emerald Dusk. Preorders are already open, but the phones themselves will start shipping on October 26. It will start at US$ 1,699.99.

Customers who grab the phone through oneplus.com can trade in any other smartphone in any condition for a minimum of US$ 200 off towards the Open.
