Taking a smartphone through a daily commute is a risky proposition. Especially as the rainy season starts, you’ll need a hardy device to endure the harsher conditions in the metro. Expanding on its A series, OPPO has announced that the ultra-durable A60 is coming to the Philippines soon.

Military-grade protection

A chunky powerhouse, the OPPO A60 comes certified with U.S. military-grade shock resistance. The smartphone can handle a plethora of falls you might encounter during your commute. Whether dropping it while exiting a bus or going through miles of potholes, OPPO’s latest device can endure. It’s been tested with falls from up to 1.22 meters high.

Additionally, the OPPO A60 has an IP54 rating. It can withstand accidental splashes. Further, if you’re caught under the rain, the phone’s Splash Touch feature, which also boosts the screen’s brightness to 950 nits, will ensure that you can still use the phone even with wet hands.

Under the hood

Featuring a 6.67-inch screen, the OPPO A60 makes the most of its budget-friendly price. It comes with an octa-core Snapdragon 680 chipset, 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of internal storage (expandable through a microSD slot).

For shooting, the smartphone comes with a 50-megapixel main shooter paired with a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It also has an 8-megapixel selfie shooter in the front.

As always, the phone has a large 5000mAh battery, compatible with 45W SUPERVOOC Flash Charge. It should be enough to get through most of your day on a single charge.

Availability

The OPPO A60 will come to the Philippines in Midnight Purple and Ripple Blue. The exact price and launch date has not dropped yet; however, the phone is selling for approximately US$ 215 to US$ 255 in other countries.
