Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro comes to Southeast Asia

Published

The sequel to Samsung’s best-selling smartphone in the Philippines is here, and it’s looking pretty fine.

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro is a follow up to the Galaxy J7 Prime. As an entry-level smartphone, it looks good in a more premium package: a full-metal body and 5.5-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display. Compared to its predecessor, the phone definitely has a better feel to it.

One notable upgrade is its 13-megapixel front and back cameras which Samsung claims are the best in the night shooting biz. (I mean, at some point you have to take evening #OOTDs, right?)

These cameras have a flash — which, in theory, is a godsend for the shots that need be taken in not so well-lit situations (trust me, there are a lot).

Samsung’s new Social Camera also boasts of the ability to instantly share and edit photos as you take them on the camera app. Stickers and filters like those built in to the Samsung Galaxy S8 camera are now also available.

The Galaxy J7 Pro runs on an efficient Exynos processor and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. It has 3GB of memory plus 32GB of storage expandable up to 256GB, and a battery capacity of 3600mAh.

Starting July 15, the Galaxy J7 Pro will be available in Samsung Experience Stores and authorized dealers for PhP 15,990.

vivo V27e

The recently-released vivo V27 series is looking to take the midrange scene by storm with the phones’ new ring light that complements their respective camera packages.

And while the higher end vivo V27 5G has received most of the attention, its smaller sibling — the vivo V27e — does not want to be left out, proving to be a worthy option for its segment.

It’s powered by a Helio G99 processor and has up to 256GB of internal storage. The base memory is 8GB plus additional 8GB extended RAM, thanks to vivo’s Extended RAM 3.0. The phone’s 4,600mAh battery supports 66W FastCharge.

The screen is a 6.62-inch AMOLED display with an upgraded 120Hz refresh rate. It comes in handy for gaming or playing high-resolution videos.

Handy mid-range shooter

The main selling point of the vivo V27e is its f/1.8 64MP ultra-sensing main shooter. It’s part of a triple camera setup along with the f/2.4 2MP macro and f/2.4 2MP depth. Up front is a 32MP selfie camera.

The main lens has hybrid EIS and OIS dual ultra-stabilization feature for steady captures and recordings. It’s beneficial for TikTok and reels, as well as vlogs. Night shots are likewise more vivid and detailed with the Aura Portrait algorithm — a vivo-exclusive innovation.

Speaking of which, the phone has a vlog movie 3.0 feature guides the user with vlogging tips and built-in film templates, frames, and stickers.

HomePod

Apple is making the HomePod (2nd generation) and HomePod mini available in Singapore starting April 6. Every purchase comes with a free six-month subscription to Apple Music.

Customers can order as early as March 30 via Apple Singapore store and Apple Store app. The HomePod will retail for SG$ 429 while the HomePod mini which comes in five colors will be priced at SG$ 139.

The HomePod has a custom-engineered high-excursion woofer with a 20mm driver and a built-in bass-EQ mic. It also has a beamforming array of five tweeters around the base. These work together for a powerful 360-degree audio experience.

The speaker has an adaptive feature called room sensing technology. With it, the device recognizes sound reflections from nearby surfaces to determine if it is placed near a wall. It then adapts the sound in real-time.

For those wanting an even better setup, using two or more HomePod or HomePod mini speakers simultaneously may be done using AirPlay. Stereo pair may also be done to separate the left and right channels on two devices. This makes for a cinematic experience when connected to an Apple TV 4K.

The speakers are compatible to use with the latest iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices, and all usual commands for seamless connectivity and integration are doable to let users personalize the experience hands-free.
