Samsung updates its TV and projector lineup to 8K
Plus, The Frame gets an update
The world is now firmly in the realm of 4K content. Technology doesn’t stop, though. Display companies are already pushing for 8K screens. Samsung, at this year’s CES 2024, is launching a set of upgrades for its TV lineup, including an all-new 8K TV.
Samsung Neo QLED 8K TV
Headlining this year, Samsung is launching a set of 8K QLED TVs. Besides the larger screen, the new series will also sport the NQ8 AI Gen3, an on-device NPU dedicated to optimizing content for the large screen.
For example, the series can upscale SD/HD content to 4K resolution. Plus, with 8K AI Upscaling Pro, the devices can convert 4K content to 8K resolution. Additionally, AI Motion Enhancer Pro can help keep fast-paced sports smooth on the big screen.
Finally, it will have a maximum VRR of 4K 240Hz. Both sports and gaming will look smooth on the TVs.
The new Neo QLED 8K TV series will come in 65- to 85-inch variants. Samsung will also launch new variants for the QLED 4K and OLED lineups.
The Premiere 8K
Big screens aren’t the only thing on Samsung’s list. Besides TVs, the brand is also releasing new devices for its projector lineup. The new Premiere 8K will throw projections in the large resolution. It can project a huge 150-inch image at only 12 inches from the surface.
It is also the first projector to offer a 100-watt output, Dolby Atmos, and Sound-on-Screen technology. It will look as if you’re watching movies at a theater.
The Premiere 8K is also compatible with Wireless One Connect, a way to display images using only wireless technology, reducing the need for clusters of wires.
Besides the Premiere 8K, Samsung is also launching the Premiere 5, 7, and 9.
The Frame (2024)
Finally, Samsung’s art-focused screen is getting an update for the new year. As always, the Frame offers over 2,500 artworks to choose from. A new streaming feature also delivers new hand-selected artwork every month, spicing up a space in the process.
To improve power efficiency, The Frame can now automatically reduce refresh rate to 60Hz when on Art Mode.
TCL, one of the leaders in the current TV technology, has showcased not just a new industry-leading 115-inch QD-mini LED TV.
They are showcasing over 100 smart products including a new smart glasses, their next-gen NXTPAPER tablets, greener appliances, and even hosting a sporting world superstar.
