Sony’s WI-1000XM2 joins their noise cancelling lineup

A new superb option

Published

on

Sony’s noise-cancelling headphones are one of, if not the best in the market right now and today they’re adding another option to that already amazing lineup. Joining the WH-1000XM3 and WF-1000XM3 is the WI-1000XM2 — a neckband headphone.

Curiously, Sony didn’t skip the number two unlike what they did with the WF-series. Which just goes to show that the company has a looooong way to go in terms of properly naming their devices. However, that’s about the only knock on Sony’s headphones.

Noise cancelling excellence

The WI-1000XM2 will also be equipped with Sony’s HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1. If the performance of the WH-1000XM3 and WF-1000XM3 are any indication, this means we’re again getting perhaps the best noise cancelling tech you can buy right now.

The neckband headphone is also promising the same quality of sound as its sibling with its HD Hybrid Driver System which includes a 9mm dynamic driver and Balanced Armature driver. It also has Digital Sound Enhancement Engine HX (DSEE HXTM) that upscales compressed digital music files including MP3 formats, to bring you closer to the quality of High-Resolution Audio.

It’s also equipped with the same bells and whistles found on its siblings like support for Google Assistant and Adaptive Sound Control.

Designed for comfort

The neckband is made of silicone for flexible fitiing and weighs approximately 44 g. Inside the box you get different options for the earbuds so you should have no trouble finding the perfect fit.

It promises up to 10 hours of continuous play time. When it runs out, you’ll be back up and running quickly as 10 minutes of charging should give you about 80 minutes of play time.

When you need to tuck it away, the magnetic earbuds snap together easily and can be stored inside the accompanying carrying case that can also hold the audio cable, USB charging cable, and plug adapter for in-flight entertainment.

Pricing and availability

The Sony WI-1000XM2 will retail for SG$ 449 (US$330) and will be available at selected Sony Stores, Sony Centers and Sony authorized dealers starting December 2019.

Kim Kardashian made her own Beats Fit Pro

It’s skin-colored

Published

on

There’s an unwritten rule about interacting with people you meet in public: If you see someone wearing headphones or earbuds, they probably don’t want to be bothered. With the size of over-ear headphones and the color of earbuds, it’s easy to spot these telltale signs in public. However, if you’re really feeling your look today, you might not want your gizmos to take away from what really matters. Enter the new Beat Fits Pro from Kim Kardashian.

If you’ve tried a pair of Beat Fits Pro already, then you already know what these sound like. However, the collaboration’s draw comes from more than just audio quality. Compared to other accessories with sleek colors, the Beats x Kim device is meant to match the color of your skin.

With most ear gear using black, white, or purple, a nude pair of earbuds is unique. According to Kardashian, it’s meant to “blend in or stand out.” A lot of technology, especially AI-based ones, are (rightfully) taking a more conscientious approach to skin color sensitivity.

The new Beats Fit Pro model will have three colors: Moon, Dune, and Earth. The three colors goes through three stops in the spectrum of skin color. Though it can certainly have more options, it’s a good start towards color sensitivity.

Apple will release the Beats Fit Pro x Kim Kardashian collaboration on August 16 online through Apple’s store. Meanwhile, the device will debut in-store starting August 17 in ten select locations around the world. It will cost as much as the regular model — US$ 199.99.

The foldables aren’t the only ones announced at Samsung Unpacked. We were also treated to a pair of smartwatches and a new TWS earphone. These are the Galaxy Watch5, Galaxy Watch5 Pro, and Galaxy Buds2 Pro.

Galaxy Watch5

The Galaxy Watch5 is all about helping Galaxy users be in their best shape possible.

This includes equipping the watch with a host of health monitoring features. Most prominently, there’s the BioActive Sensor. Essentially, it’s one chip that enables three other sensors which are the Optical Heart Rate, Electrical Heart Signal, and Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis.

Too much to take in? Just think of it as a new tech that enables the Galaxy Watch5 to perform its function of getting you healthy. That’s through Samsung’s Holistic Health approach.

You can record your Body Composition and the Watch5 will help tailor workouts that work well to achieving your fitness goals. But it goes beyond workouts. It also has suggestions for your post-workout, rest, and recovery process. Like an actual trainer, but on your wrist.

There’s also the other usual smartwatch functions like Sleep tracking, getting your notifications and what not. It also comes with a 13 percent larger battery.

The display is made of Sapphire Crystal which Samsung swears is tougher than most other materials used on other smartwatches.

The Galaxy Watch5 comes in different sizes and colors with the following pricing:

40mmGalaxy Watch5  (Graphite, Pink Gold, Silver )

  • LTE – PHP 19,990
  • Bluetooth – PHP 16,990

44mmGalaxy Watch5 (Graphite, Sapphire, Silver)

  • LTE – PHP 21,990
  • Bluetooth – PHP 18,990

Galaxy Watch5 Pro

The Galaxy Watch5 Pro is everything the Galaxy Watch5 is but made for the outdoor enthusiasts. It’s made more durable and has extra features to support hiking, cycling and more.

Build-wise it’s also made of Sapphire Crystal but enhanced. It has a titanium casing that protects the display. You also get a D-Buckle Sports Band made for rugged durability.

For outdoor activities, it has GPX making tracking easy. As you hike or cycle, it’ll help you navigate turn-by-turn so you can keep your eyes on the path. And when you’re ready to head back, there’s a Track back feature that traces your starting point. Great for those challenged with directions.

The Galaxy Watch5 Pro comes in 45mm in either Black Titanium or Gray Titanium.

Pricing are as follows:

Galaxy Watch5 Pro 45mm

  • LTE – PHP 26,990
  • Bluetooth – PHP 29,990

Buds2 Pro

It’s easy to dismiss this as just a tacked-on offering but Samsung did make significant upgrades to their new headliner earbuds.

The Galaxy Buds2 Pro now supports Hi-Fi 24bit Audio. This offers high-dynamic range and a crystal-clear audio resolution. Naturally, there’s also ANC or Active Noise Cancellation which is also enabled in calls for a clearer call conversation.

If you own a Samsung TV or other Samsung devices, the Buds2 Pro can seamlessly switch between them if necessary.

Form-wise, the Galaxy Buds2 Pro is 15 percent smaller than its predecessor. To some people, that could mean it’s easier to misplace. In case that happens, they should be easy to locate using SmartThings Find now.

It has an IPX7 rating which means it should be okay to take on workouts, except if your workout is swimming.

The Galaxy Buds2 Pro retails for PHP 12,990.

Customers can pre-order the Galaxy Buds2 Pro starting August 11 to September 1, 2022 through samsung.com, Samsung Experience Stores, and Authorized Samsung Stores.

Pre-order bonus is either of the following:

  • PHP 1,500 Token for Samsung mobile products
  • 50% off on Galaxy Buds2 Pro and 30% off on Galaxy Watch5 Series when they purchase the Galaxy Z Fold4 or Z Flip4.

It will be available starting September 2, 2022 in Samsung.com, Samsung Experience Stores, select Authorized Samsung Stores, Lazada, Shopee, Abenson.com and MemoXpress Online in Bora Purple, Graphite and White.
