The ZenFone 4 family has a new member, which got silently listed on ASUS Philippines’ website. It’s almost like a tradition for a manufacturer to release cheaper variants of their existing phones, and that’s what this model is all about.
The new ZenFone 4 Selfie Lite has a lot in common with the other ZenFone 4 Selfie phone in terms of design and dimensions. They both share the same body, but with slightly different specifications.
For the Lite, we have a pretty basic smartphone with a 5.5-inch display (the resolution is unspecified as of writing) topped with a curved 2.5D glass and fingerprint reader below it. It has 13-megapixel sensors for both the front and rear cameras, and each is accompanied by its own LED flash.
What makes the phone a “Lite” version is the use a lower-tier chipset. Instead of having the same Snapdragon 430 processor of the regular variant, we have a Snapdragon 425. Memory and storage are also downgraded to just 2GB and 32GB/16GB, respectively.
The battery capacity is still at 3000mAh like its sibling, and Android 7.0 Nougat with the latest ZenUI 4.0 runs on the device.
Interestingly, the product page of the ZenFone 4 Selfie Lite also names the phone as ZenFone Live. Perhaps ASUS just went on with the “Lite” name to keep everyone in the same Selfie book. Pricing is PhP 7,995 or roughly US$ 155.
