AMD optimizes LM Studio 0.3 for select AMD Ryzen AI processors, Radeon graphics
Tool to utilize for offline AI assistants
In line with its commitment to enable next-generation AI experiences on PCs, AMD has partnered with LM Studio to make the latter’s latest AI tool available on selected AMD Ryzen AI processors and Radeon graphics.
LM Studio has just recently launched LM Studio 0.3 with acceleration for both Ryzen AI processors and Radeon graphics. It features a revamped user experience, easy installation and setup.
It is also fully equipped out of the box. This way, users can utilize it for offline AI assistants to maximize productivity.
LM Studio 0.3 is optimized for the following hardware:
Processors
- AMD Ryzen AI 300 series
- AMD Ryzen 8040 series
- AMD Ryzen 7040 series
Discrete graphics
- AMD Radeon RX 7000 series
Students, business professionals, and more PC users can benefit from the offline AI assistant LM Studio is enabling on devices.
One major new feature is easy-RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation). RAG allows users to increase the knowledge base of their personal AI assistants using their own documents. This also leads to answering questions specific to those documents.
Previously, this feature was only possible by setting up complicated end points. But now, it can be done with the new LM Studio version out of the box.
Those interested in trying LM Studio out can head over to the RyzenAI portal and click the “Download LM Studio for RyzenAI” button. To run LM Studio 0.3, simply follow these steps:
- Install LM Studio 0.3
- Select the Microsoft Phi 3.1 model from the dropdown menu at the top
- Begin chatting!
Older generations of AMD hardware, meanwhile, are also supported in LM Studio through the Vulkan inferencing engine backend.
Advanced users can also opt for the model to use with LM Studio and try out various state-of-the-art open models like Microsoft Phi 3.1, Meta Llama 3.1, and Mistral Nemo.
