Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10

This is not a drill. During a Qualcomm event happening in Singapore, it was casually shared that Microsoft is ending support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025.

The quick announcement was shared during a spiel promoting CoPilot — Microsoft’s AI companion for PCs. It was said that the move was made to fully transition users to Windows 11.

The announcement was made by Microsoft’s General Manager, Device Partner Sales, Asia, Adam Owee.

Won’t be a smooth transition

A big chunk of PCs and laptops still run Windows 10. Even a recent report by Steam showed that majority of players still run the OS. This announcement is pushing everyone to upgrade to a Windows 11-capable device ahead of the October deadline.

Chances are many users will find a way to keep running the OS to prolong the usability of their current machines.

Windows 10

Windows 10 was first released in July 29, 2015. The version of the operating system is approaching its 10th year anniversary. It marked a more desktop-centric interface, moving away from Windows 8 that also tried to incorporate a UX/UI for tablets.
