iPhone Duo

Apple has officially entered the foldable smartphone market with the iPhone Duo, its first-ever foldable iPhone. It uses a passport-style design that opens into a larger display while retaining a conventional smartphone experience when closed.

Price and availability

The iPhone Duo starts at SGD 3,099 in Singapore for the 256GB model.

Here’s the full Singapore pricing:

  • 256GB — SGD 3,099
  • 512GB — SGD 3,399
  • 1TB — SGD 3,999
  • 2TB — SGD 4,899

The iPhone Duo comes in Star White and Night Sky. Apple will make it available starting October 23.

A foldable design built around two displays

The iPhone Duo has a 5.4-inch outer display when folded and a 7.6-inch main display when opened. Both displays share the same aspect ratio, allowing iOS to transition smoothly between the two orientations.

The rear chassis uses Ceramic Shield, while the front display gets Ceramic Shield 2. The phone is also IP68-rated for dust and water resistance.

Its hinge uses carbon fiber supports and magnets. Apple also designed the camera plateau with a curved edge that flows into the rear chassis.

A20 Pro powers the foldable experience

The iPhone Duo runs on the A20 Pro, the same chip found in the iPhone 18 Pro series. Apple says it delivers 35 percent better sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro.

It also comes with the new C2 cellular modem, which provides up to 50 percent faster uploads. The foldable can be used in different configurations, including tent mode and partially folded like a book.

A 48-megapixel camera system

The iPhone Duo gets a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera alongside a 12-megapixel 2x telephoto camera. A 12-megapixel Center Stage camera handles selfies and video calls.

Apple also places the front camera under the display for a cleaner inner-screen experience.

Battery life that lasts beyond a day

The iPhone Duo offers up to 31 hours of video playback using its inner display and up to 44 hours when using the outer screen.

Charging is also fast. Apple says a 20-minute charge can replenish half the battery, while a five-minute charge can provide up to five hours of video playback.

Sony introduces its 1st Fisheye Zoom G Lens

Broad range for landscapes, architecture, sports, and video production

Published

on

Sony has just launched its first fisheye zoom G Lens for full-frame Alpha E-mount cameras: the Sony FE 8-14mm F3.5 Fisheye G. It will be available from late September for an SRP of US$ 1,599.99 / SG$ 2,049.

The 8 mm to 14 mm zoom focal range covers a broad set of fisheye perspectives in one compact lens.

At 8 mm, the lens shoots circular fisheye with a 180-degree angle of view projected as a circular image on a full-frame sensor.

Meanwhile, at 14 mm, it shoots diagonal fisheye across the full frame with a 180-degree diagonal angle of view.

Users can match the angle of view and composition to the subject and creative intent, across various scenarios like landscapes, architecture, sports, and more.

An optical design with ED (extra-low dispersion) glass and aspherical elements suppresses chromatic and other aberrations across the image area.

This enables high resolution throughout the zoom range with fast and precise autofocus and Linear Response MF. All these while suppressing focus breathing and operating quietly for movie production.

Controls include a focus mode switch, zoom lock switch, and an aperture ring with switchable click stops.

A minimum focusing distance of 0.15 meters and maximum magnification of 0.22x at the telephoto end also allow close-up fisheye perspectives both for stills and movies.

The Sony FE 8-14mm F3.5 Fisheye G measures about 63.1 mm in maximum diameter and 82.8 mm in length.

It weights about 314 grams, giving it mobility for handheld, gimbal, and rig-based shooting. It is also dust and moisture-resistant with a fluorine coating on the front.

In addition, users can opt for a dual-lens configuration with the VENCE Extension System Mini.

Sony expands ULT POWER SOUND with three new speakers

Deeper bass for bigger parties.

Sony ULT Tower 5

Sony has expanded its ULT POWER SOUND lineup with three new party speakers. They are the ULT TOWER MAX, ULT TOWER 7, and ULT TOWER 5. The new models focus on deeper bass, higher sound pressure, and features designed for parties, DJ setups, karaoke, and everyday listening.

The new ULT TOWER lineup was developed with input from hip-hop sound creators. Sony says the speakers were tuned based on feedback from Grammy-nominated producer Dot Da Genius, drummer and producer Daru Jones, producer and DJ Dready, and audio engineer and producer Dennis “ROC.am” Jones.

Three speakers for different setups

Sony ULT Tower Max

ULT Tower Max

The ULT TOWER MAX sits at the top of the new range. It uses three woofers, including two front-facing units and one at the rear, alongside a high-powered amplifier delivering up to 2,150W of output. Sony positions it as the most powerful bass speaker in the ULT POWER SOUND series yet.

The ULT TOWER 7 delivers up to 420W of output, while the more compact ULT TOWER 5 reaches up to 300W. Both are designed to be easier to move around, making them suitable for parties, karaoke, DJ setups, and everyday listening.

ULT Tower 7

All three models feature Sony’s ULT button with ULT1 and ULT2 modes. ULT1 enhances deep bass, while ULT2 pushes for even more powerful bass and sound pressure. New FLAT and LIVE modes are also available. FLAT aims for a true-to-source sound and LIVE recreates the feel of a live performance.

Built for parties

Sony ULT Tower 7

The ULT TOWER MAX and ULT TOWER 7 feature 360° Party Sound, which projects audio around the speakers for wider coverage. The MAX combines four tweeters, mid-range speakers, and its rear woofer to produce room-filling sound.

Sony has also added Enhanced Sound Field Optimization. The system analyzes speaker placement and surrounding noise before adjusting the sound balance across the frequency range. The speakers can also be positioned vertically or horizontally.

Connectivity includes XLR, RCA, and USB-C, giving the lineup options for both casual listening and more involved DJ setups. Compatible speakers can also be connected in stereo for wider sound coverage.

For karaoke, users can pair the speakers with Sony’s optional ULTMIC1 microphone. The new Party Chain feature also uses Auracast to connect multiple compatible Sony speakers and synchronize their music and lighting.

Lighting modes include BEAT, WAVE, and MELLOW, giving users different lighting patterns depending on the atmosphere they want.

Made to move

Sony has equipped the new speakers with carry handles. They also improved the wheels on the ULT TOWER MAX and ULT TOWER 7 with wider treads. The ULT TOWER 7 and ULT TOWER 5 also carry an IPX4 rating when positioned vertically, making them suitable for outdoor use.

Battery life reaches up to 30 hours on the ULT TOWER 7 and up to 20 hours on the ULT TOWER 5, although actual battery life varies depending on volume, lighting, temperature, and usage.

Sony is also highlighting the environmental aspects of the lineup. Approximately 35 percent of the plastic used in the ULT TOWER MAX is recycled plastic. The ULT TOWER 7 and ULT TOWER 5 each use approximately 20 percent recycled plastic by weight.

The company is further supporting the dance community through a sponsorship of Red Bull Dance Your Style 2026, where Sony will serve as an official wireless speaker partner for events including the USA National Final in September and World Final in Switzerland in October.

Pricing and availability

The Sony ULT TOWER MAX, ULT TOWER 7, and ULT TOWER 5 will be available starting September 2026 in selected Asia Pacific markets.

In the Philippines, the ULT TOWER MAX (PHP 88,889), ULT TOWER 7 (PHP 38,889), and ULT TOWER 5 (PHP 22,229) are now available at Sony Centres and authorized dealers nationwide.

As part of the launch, customers can earn 120,000 MySony points by registering these new models for MySony and attaining Platinum membership until September 12. Members also gain access to “Beyond the Beat,” the ULT POWER SOUND launch event happening on September 19 at Okada Manila.
