iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max put Siri AI under the spotlight
The new burgundy color is to die for!
As is tradition every year, Apple has launched the latest iPhone generation. In an event titled “Surprise and shine,” the iPhone 18 series brings the most advanced updates to one of the world’s most ubiquitous phones. Despite the event’s name, there’s no surprise that there are two flavors for the Pro duo. Let’s run through them now:
Apple Intelligence and Siri AI
The main event is Siri AI, bolstered with Apple Intelligence. Shown off earlier this year, the new AI-powered assistant puts the “personal” in “personal intelligence assistant.” Packed inside the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, Siri AI can now let loose and give you everything you need from day to day.
Besides your own input, Siri AI can automatically detect your needs and update you accordingly. Additionally, it’s the most expressive assistance with customizable pace and expressivity across four voice options.
A20 Pro
Inside, the series is powered by the new A20 Pro chip. The six-core CPU touts 20 percent faster performance. Apple claims that it’s the fastest CPU in any smartphone. Plus, it features a 7-core GPU with a 40 percent increase in graphics performance.
It also has a next-generation vapor chamber to help dissipate heat.
48-megapixel Fusion Main camera
For camera, the 6.3-inch iPhone 18 Pro and 6.9-inch Pro Max comes with a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera with variable aperture. The camera has a new mechanism which helps the aperture adjust automatically depending on the scene.
Bolstering the hardware, the camera system has better software which enables cinematic effects, including running time lapses in 4K resolution. Of course, Pro controls are available, making it easier to completely control the shot with simple controls.
Largest battery improvement for an iPhone
Finally, the Pro duo will feature the largest battery increase for an iPhone. The iPhone 18 Pro boasts 36 hours of video playback, while the Pro Max features 45 hours. With improved charging, a 15-minute charging session can already fill half of the battery.
Price
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at US$ 1,199. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at US$ 1,299. They will come in Black, Silver, Glacier, and Burgundy.
The smartphone gets up to PhP 3,000 off at participating stores until October 18.

Is it safe to say that the foldable wars are finally on? After Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, more eyes are looking towards foldables, and Apple’s foldable isn’t even out yet. Despite still being in the iPhone Duo’s preorder phase, Samsung has already laid a bold claim over the market. According to the South Korean brand, demand for the Galaxy Z Fold8 family has increased since the debut of the Duo.
As reported by Forbes, Richard Chang, Corporate Vice President for the Mobile Division, said, “Customer demand for the Galaxy Z Fold8 family has increased 16 percent since launch, and with a 300 percent increase in active Google searches for Samsung foldables in the last month alone.”
To be fair, Chang did not attribute the recent spike to Apple. However, the timing is more than just a coincidence. A few weeks ago, Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, the company’s first foray into the foldable market. Almost immediately, the Duo turned heads for its novel approach to its foldable interface. Unlike its competitors, it transitions seamlessly when folding between the two modes.
However, Apple’s efforts might not be enough, at least not before the Duo actually launches. Samsung is still on an upward trend, thanks to the more convenient passport-style form factor of the Galaxy Z Fold8. Still, regardless of which side of the fence you’re on, it’s a win for consumers that the two biggest names in the smartphone space are finally feuding over foldable supremacy. We might be in for a golden age of foldables in the next few years.
