2020 is just around the corner, and in PlayStation’s final State of Play for the year, they dropped huge news. From popular titles to new titles for next year, PlayStation wanted to wrap things up nicely for its 25th anniversary. Here are some of the biggest announcements from the final State of Play for 2019:

Untitled Goose Game arrives

You’ve heard of the Untitled Goose Game, right? That’s right, the game that allows you to vent all your frustrations towards the human race as a “vengeful” goose comes to the PlayStation 4 on December 17. Accomplish several tasks and achieve pure chaos, all while keeping yourself out of the humans’ reach. Honk your way to success at the expense of the human race.

Spellbreak enters the battle

Proletariat wants to add a new kind of battle royale game for the PlayStation 4. Spellbreak combines the typical battle royale-style gameplay with the hint of magic in it. While the broadcast did not reveal much on other game mechanics, it showed several battle areas such as towns and forests. The game is already available for the PC through the Epic Games store, but will make its way to the PlayStation 4 next year.

Explore a dreamlike ecosystem with Paper Beast

2020 will be the year that PlayStation beefs up its VR lineup. Pixel Reef has one such title added to that lineup in Paper Beast, an adventure-simulation game. The game mostly focuses on wildlife depicted in 2D-like structures. It is expected to launch some time within the first quarter of next year.

Kingdom Hearts 3: ReMind: the mind-boggling DLC

Finally, on January 23, 2020, one of the most popular games released in 2019 explores the forgotten in its latest DLC. Kingdom Hearts 3 welcomes a deeper dive into the events leading up to the game’s final battle scene  in ReMind. The expansion features several characters from the beloved Kingdom Hearts franchise while also marking the return of key figures in the Final Fantasy series. While the DLC drops early next year, Square Enix and PlayStation had opened pre-orders for it.

Millennials, prepare to have your nostalgia get hit right in the feels. Nintendo has officially announced that Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen are coming to the Switch.

This year, the Pokémon franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Naturally, with Pokémon Day coming up, it’s only right to celebrate the event with something huge. Finally, two of the most prolific titles in the series are coming to a modern console.

Originally released in 2004, Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen were remakes of the original Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue. At the time, the two titles reimagined the older games for the Game Boy Advance. Additionally, they introduced new post-game content set in the Sevii Islands, where Ho-Oh, Lugia, and Deoxys reside in the Kanto region.

Based on the short teaser trailer, the upcoming Switch versions will feature all of both games’ content. It will likely be remastered for the Switch’s larger screen.

To showcase more of the Switch version, Nintendo is hosting a Pokémon Presents on February 27. The brand has not mentioned anything about a potential physical version yet. However, they do promise that both games will be available on the Nintendo eShop as soon as next week’s Pokémon Presents concludes. Each game will cost US$ 19.99.
