If you’ve got that James Dean daydream look in your eye, stop looking at that Little Bastard car and go after something that truly never goes out of style.

Ford Philippines has just unveiled the 7th-generation of its iconic sports coupe, the All-New Ford Mustang. A different level of pony power awaits for those who love freedom, passion, and the thrill of the open road.

Electric dreams

The All-New Mustang still carries its muscle car DNA, continuing to embody speed and power through its dashing style mixed with on-road performance.

It comes in two variants: GT Premium Fastback and EcoBoost Premium Fastback.

The former comes with a 5.0LTi-VCT V8 engine mated to a 10-Speed SelectShift Automatic Transmission, capable of producing 493 PS of power and 567 Nm of Torque.

Meanwhile, the EcoBoost variant comes with a 2.3L EcoBoost Engine mated to a 10-Speed SelectShift Automatic Transmission, capable of producing 319 PS of power and 475 Nm of Torque.

Both variants use a segment-first electronic drift brake, taking new technology to the racetrack. It unlocks the rear-wheel-drive drifting capability of the Mustang, while still looking like a traditional, mechanical hand brake.

Further, it’s equipped with a Performance Electronic Parking Brake assisting novice and expert drivers.

Brains and brawn

It’s not just a muscle car. The All-New Mustang is equipped with the latest driving and safety technology. For starters, it has selectable drive modes which allows drivers to maneuver across different road conditions.

With a simple click, drive modes can be changed between Normal, Sport, Slippery, Custom, Track, and Drag Strip.

Also inside, a magnesium-framed 13-inch Colored Center Display enables SYNC-4 technology with enhanced voice recognition, while supporting Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Drivers also get a 12-inch digital cluster.

Moreover, the All-New Mustang comes with FordPass for easier check-ups and connectivity, along with Ford Co-Pilot 360 technology, bringing in a suite of driver-assist features.

  • Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert and Braking
  • Auto High Beam Headlights
  • Post Impact Braking
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go
  • Lane Centering Assist
  • Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Evasive Steer Assist

Even more sophistication

For a more sophisticated pony power, both variants of the All-New Ford Mustang will have the MagneRide Damping System which was previously available to the GT Premium variant only.

This time around, both variants also come with durable Brembo brakes, a Quad Chrome Tip Exhaust with Active Valce Functionality, a 19-inch Aluminum Wheels with unique designs for each variant, and RECARO leather-trimmed sports seats inside.

Price, availability

The All-New Ford Mustang comes in two variants. The 5.0L GT Premium Fastback starts at PhP 3,999,000, while the 2.3L EcoBoost Premium Fastback retails for PhP 3,499,000.

For a worry-free ownership experience, customers will get a complimentary Peace of Mind service inspection package with their vehicle purchase.

Both variants will be available in the following colors: Vapor Blue, Iconic Silver, Race Red, Oxford White, and Shadow Black. For additional PhP 20,000, GT Premium Exclusive colors such as Grabber Blue and Yellow Splash will be available.

Inchcape Philippines and Changan are parting ways

The two companies won’t renew their distribution deal, with the transition running through Q4 2026.

Inchcape Philippines and Changan have mutually agreed not to renew their distribution partnership in the country. The companies announced the decision, citing Changan’s own long-term plans for the Philippine market as the reason.

The partnership enters a transition period that runs through Q4 2026. During this time, existing customer commitments remain in place, including aftersales support, warranty coverage, parts, and service.

Alex Hammett, Inchcape’s Managing Director for South Asia & Pacific, said Inchcape Philippines and Changan have worked together since 2023 to build the Changan brand locally, supported by Inchcape’s distribution network and dealer relationships.

He thanked the Inchcape Philippines team and dealer partners for their role in that effort over the past three years.

Inchcape says the Philippines remains a key market for the company. It continues to distribute Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, trucks, and buses, along with Jaguar Land Rover, and operates the retail business for Harley-Davidson locally. The company’s stated focus going forward is growing its existing portfolio and introducing new products to Filipino customers.

The Philippines also houses Inchcape’s Digital Delivery Centre and Global Business Services teams, which together employ more than 700 people supporting the company’s global operations.

Further details on arrangements after the transition period, including Changan’s next distribution partner, have not yet been announced.

Tesla involved in recalling over 4 million electric cars

China is banning a feature found on most Teslas.

Electric vehicles have been simmering in some hot water for a while now, but it’s not because of a reason you might be thinking of. Instead of its performance or even its reliability, the world’s modern vehicle is fretting over its door handles. Over the feature’s potential risks in a life-or-death situations, carmakers in China, including Tesla, are recalling around 4.3 million vehicles in the country.

When it comes to door handles, electric vehicles today are known for creating hidden ones that sit flush on a car door. These handles appear only when needed and automatically retract into the door when not in use.

For a while now, governments have been worried about them, citing concerns that they don’t offer easy exits during threatening scenarios. There have been incidents when the handles don’t pop up while a car is on fire, preventing both the car’s occupants and rescuers from opening the door.

Today, via Reuters, nine carmakers, including Tesla, are recalling 4.3 million vehicles from the country over these same door handles. Moreso than domestic brands, Tesla finds itself leading this pack with almost 3 million units. The other eight brands include Xiaomi and Geely.

This recall is responding to China’s latest regulation to ban hidden door handles starting 2027. Other measures include installing mechanical releases. Some brands are also rolling out software updates which automatically lower the car’s windows in case of an emergency, offering another exit for trapped occupants.
