Apple is making 75 million 5G iPhones in 2020
Apple is immune to the pandemic
The Coronavirus pandemic has crashed a host of industries like transportation, tourism, and hospitality. However, smartphone sales are unhindered and the demand is never-ending. In line with the same trend, Apple is gearing up to have another blockbuster year.
According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple has asked its suppliers to build 75 million 5G iPhones in 2020. The company will announce its next-generation iPhones soon and demand could reach as high as 80 million units this year.
Recent rumors and leaks have confirmed that Apple will launch four new iPhones this year. The iPhone is Apple’s most important product and fetches them a majority of their total revenues. The brand is also planning a product refresh with a new iPad Air, two Apple Watch versions, and over-the-ear headphones under Apple branding.
The total production target for 2018 as well as 2019 was close to 75 million. So, in the middle of a pandemic, the current estimate is a positive sign. Smartphone brands around the globe are reporting a bullish stance.
The new iPhones were delayed by a few weeks due to the outbreak. A new Apple Watch will succeed Series 5 and a Series 3 replacement will act as an affordable alternative to competing brands like Fitbit.
With the virus outbreak, people are requested to avoid gatherings and everyone has shifted to the work-from-home model. This has further fueled demand for laptops and smartphones. Xiaomi is the top smartphone maker in India and has confirmed that ongoing anti-China sentiments and economic slowdown haven’t discouraged smartphone sales.

OnePlus officially leaves the United States and Canada
The brand’s smartphones are now sold out in the United States.
Once upon a time, OnePlus used to be the darling child of smartphone users on a budget. For a more meager price than a flagship, users can enjoy flagship specs on a uniquely designed phone. Who can forget the iconic OnePlus One?
Unfortunately, prices have a way of catching up. Though the brand’s phones are still perfectly good, more options have already emerged as alternatives for a so-called flagship killer, including OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei’s Nothing.
Now, marking the brand’s next step, whatever that is, OnePlus has officially left the North American market. As of today, the company has sold its last smartphone in the United States and Canada. Going on the official OnePlus website will warrant a Sold Out sign for both the OnePlus 15 and 15R. If anything, users can still get a handful of earbuds and cases.
As with everything that sells out, if you really want to cop one of the last remaining models in America, you can grab one off a third-party retailer, but who knows until when that will last?
This isn’t just a stocking issue, either. In July, the company already confirmed that it is pulling out of the region starting this month. It’s a sign of internal restructuring happening inside OPPO and all the brands under its umbrella. There’s also a rumor that OnePlus was relegated to being a sub-brand of OPPO once again.
