HUAWEI Watch D2 makes checking your blood pressure fashionable

The country’s first ABPM in a smartwatch

Becoming health-conscious does not mean a sacrifice of style. Even if you’re tracking more stringent metrics, such as blood pressure, a smartwatch can still help you rise above the rest. Right now, nothing embodies the combination of form and function than the HUAWEI Watch D2.

The country’s first ABPM in a smartwatch

When you think about blood pressure, you’re likely visualizing the traditional cuff and pump. In contrast, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) involves a portable device which can measure your blood pressure regularly throughout the day. However, most ABPM devices will still have you wearing a bulky cuff around your arm.

The HUAWEI Watch D2 gets rid of the clunk and stylishly fits the inflatable cuff around the smartwatch’s strap. In practice, it looks just like a regular smartwatch, albeit a bit thicker than what you might be used to. Regardless, the watch is an easily accessible ABPM you can take with you on the go.

How does it work?

Monitoring your blood pressure is easy with the HUAWEI Watch D2. By default, the watch’s bottom button opens the monitor.

When you start the monitor, the watch requires that you assume the recommended pose, which looks like putting your hand on your chest for the national anthem. You’ll feel pressure on your wrist, but you’ll get a fairly accurate measurement after a minute.

Alternatively, you can schedule regular measurements throughout the day. True to the nature of an ABPM device, the watch can remind you every so often to take your blood pressure, so you can get a better picture of how your heart is doing all throughout the day.

Still a smartwatch inside

Though the blood pressure monitor takes center stage, the HUAWEI Watch D2 is still a capable smartwatch. Like other watches, you can track your workouts, measure your sleep, and access notifications from your phone. It has a 1.82-inch AMOLED screen for maximum visibility.

If you’re the more active individual, the watch comes with IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. It will also stay alive throughout the day with a 524mAh battery.

Price and availability

The HUAWEI Watch D2 is available in Black and Gold. The smartwatch will set you back by PhP 19,999. Customers can get it through HUAWEI’s online store, Lazada, or Shopee. Currently through the online store, customers can save PhP 2,000 off and get a free pair of HUAWEI Freebuds SE 2.
