And its homecoming party was a blast!

Riot Games League of Legends

League of Legends, undeniably the most popular Multi-Player Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game, has returned to its original game developer, Riot Games.

Riot Games is also the developer behind the current favorite FPS game VALORANT, as well as Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra, and League of Legends: Wild Rift.

League of Legends or simply “League” or “LoL” as Pinoy gamers fondly call it, has a huge amount of following, with an estimated 180 million players around the world.

In fact, the League of Legends Worlds Championship 2022 was the most watched esports event last year.

The Summoners Rave Party

Last February 24, Riot Games organized an exclusive party for players, streamers, partners, and fans dubbed as the League of Legends Summoner’s Rave. It marked the transition of the game to servers supported by Riot Games.

The whole event set-up was a real-life party version of the Summoner’s Rift and the world of League. From the food and drink options down to the Runeterra-themed photo booths, the whole place.

My personal favorite was the crane game called Poro-Catchers, where I took home a poro plushie.

Some of my favorite cosplayers were also present in the event, including Prince de Guzman, Charess, Roxanne Kho and Zackt, Cholo Tolentino, Myrtle Sarrosa, and many more.

The event was matched by the amazing energy of top esports casters Autolose and Osiris, complemented by DJ Hannah Ichiko, dressed as DJ Sona, who played multiple sets during the event, and DJ Bandit as True Damage Yasuo, who headlined the finale.

One of the highlights of the night was the recognition of top League of Legends Players, or called “Summoners”–most bagging more than one award. The list includes players such as Quit Lol 102, Kenpk26, Knight Imperius, Porch Monkey2020, pogsilog, roywuski, LE ME HUSTLE, ChovoMo, RCA SOL, JAY_XING, nappster, kikomatsing01, xxGavreelxx, ariesblu, and Lady archer.

On top of this, three Summoners graced the stage and received their own plaques. WSR TRANSGENDER FAE won Top Wards Placed, while ako ang diyosa was cited for Top Assists and Top Wards Placed. Joining them was idoodhel who won a Secret Lab Gaming Chair for owning all 1,467 champion skins of League of Legends.

What’s coming for League

Riot Games League of Legends

So what to expect in this new era of League?

During the event, League of Legends brand manager Kimi Salazar announced that their team is ready to put the Philippines back in the world stage.

Filipino players can now join in-game events and cross-franchise campaigns already available in other regions. Additionally, they’ll also have better access to player support and other resources, a new ranked season, and a new in-game tournament mode called Clash.

Riot Games will also bring more hyperlocal moments and offline events to the Pinoy gaming community to encourage players that they can play the game not just a hobby, but also professionally.

A Hextech chest!

To complete the celebration, Riot Games sent us this real-life version of League’s Hextech chest prior to the event. It came to us packed in a cool Balikbayan box!

The chest contains some gamer essentials, including a Razer mouse pad and headphones.

With this new era, things are definitely looking up for League in PH!

Assassin’s Creed fans are invited to celebrate the launch of Black Flag Resynced through a limited-time themed experience at the Skypark Macau Tower.

The experience will run from July 17 to 26, and will feature elements from the title brought into a real-world setting. There’s themed installations, photo opportunities, and exclusive event rewards.

Aside from that, there is a concept art gallery and replica props inspired by the action-adventure.

The experience opens to the public from 11:00 A.M. on Friday, and will remain available until the last Sunday of the month.

It will be more fulfilling to come on the first day, as there will be exclusive merchandise sold only on July 17.

Guests who purchase the game on-site, or present proof of purchase of the game at the event will be eligible to redeem an exclusive item, available only until supplies last.

Moreover, those who complete an eligible activity during the Assassin’s Creed event period at Skypark Macau will receive a paper scroll replica of  the “Letter for Duncan Walpole”, while supplies last.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a faithful remake of 2013’s Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag. Rebuilt from the ground up and powered by the latest Anvil engine, the game features updated visuals, enriched gameplay, and new narrative content.

Set during the Golden Age of Piracy, the game invites players to sail the Caribbean as Edward Kenway. The rebellious pirate captain is drawn into the centuries-old conflict between Assassins and Templars.

As the protagonist pursues glory and fortune, he crosses paths with legendary figures such as Blackbeard, Anne Bonny, and Calico Jack. All this while the fate of everything the pirates have built hangs in the balance.

The game is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

Microsoft dictates that a new Fallout game is coming

Microsoft cancelled an Avowed sequel to focus on Fallout.

Published

Bethesda used to be a bastion for RPG experiences. Today, however, the company prefers living off its older properties such as Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76. For a while now, the question has been: When will Bethesda release a new game in either of their two biggest franchises? Well, according to a report, a new Fallout game might be coming soon.

As of late, Microsoft has been restructuring its studios. In fact, the company might shut down the studio behind the Dishonored series and the upcoming game based on Marvel’s Blade. Now, as part of that reshuffling (via Bloomberg), Obsidian Entertainment has been told to cancel a sequel to Avowed and focus on a new Fallout game.

It’s a huge change. Microsoft has notably stayed away from its more popular franchises for a while now. The latest Fallout game is still Fallout 76. The latest Elder Scrolls game has been in development for a long, long time now. Only DOOM, via last year’s The Dark Ages, got a new title recently.

To be clear, it’s unknown whether we’re getting the true Fallout 5 or another iteration of the online 76. If it’s really the fifth mainline entry in the franchise, it’s coming at a very opportune time. The franchise is currently on a high, riding the popularity of the TV series of the same name. Fans will surely enjoy a follow-up.

To fuel things further, Josh Sawyer, the director behind the universally lauded New Vegas, is reportedly spearheading the production of the new game.
