No fancy court designs for now

NBA 2K24 In-Season Tournamen

NBA 2K24 players can now vie for the first-ever NBA Cup as MyCAREER, MyTEAM, and MyNBA have been updated to include the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament for New Gen consoles.

In the real world, the NBA’s In-Season Tournament is an added dimension to the current 2023-2024 season wherein the 30 teams have randomly been drawn into six groups of five to compete in a separate tourney within the regular season.

In the group play stage, teams go head-to-head in “Tournament Nights” with the results also counting in the regular season team standings.

The top teams from each of the six groups plus two wildcards advance to the knockout rounds where at stake is the NBA Cup.

For MyCAREER, NBA 2K24 is following the same rules and format as the NBA, giving players a more authentic feel as they try to lead their squad to the first-ever NBA Cup.

Only the Modern Era in MyNBA shall feature the tournament; to participate, simply advance to the next MyNBA season without having to create a new save file.

New Player Cards

Meanwhile, MyTEAM is introducing new NBA Tournament Battles Player Cards to collect to celebrate the In-Season Tournament.

These cards may evolve based on real-world matchups as the actual tournament progresses.

Completing the Western Conference collection leads to an Amethyst Michael Porter Jr. card while an Amethyst Tyler Herro card awaits those who will complete the Eastern Conference collection.

Ultimately, collecting all Emerald Players along with both Amethyst cards will lead to a reigning NBA Finals MVP Diamond Nikola Jokic.

No fancy court designs yet?

Based on the trailer, it seems that there will be no fancy court designs for now on NBA 2K24, unlike in the NBA where the home teams have been using eccentrically-designed home floors for their In-Season Tournament games.

For instance, the Chicago Bulls use a homecourt that is colored mostly in red while the Phoenix Suns have theirs colored in purple.

Perhaps NBA 2K24 will be working on securing the designs of each of the 30 teams and add them onto the game later.

HoYoverse’s Nodusfall looks like nothing they’ve ever made before

But it looks so similar to Elden Ring or Dark Souls.

There’s a certain aesthetic you’ll always expect whenever you see HoYoverse mentioned. Touting long-standing hits like Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero, the publisher’s games often have bright and appealing aesthetics, bolstered by highly attractive characters to get you into the gacha groove. However, for the first time, HoYoverse is trying something completely different: Nodusfall, an action RPG that looks and feels like Elden Ring.

Revealed at today’s gamescom, Nodusfall teases a deeply fantastical setting focusing on Weavers taking on ferocious monsters and divine entities. Players will be able to take on these challenges with, based on the trailer, four players. Each player can wield an assortment of weapons including a greatsword, a regular sword, a bow, and magic. The trailer also teases spells that can transform the player into a divine being themselves.

As for the enemies, they have a strangely striking resemblance to other games you might have played before. One is a grizzled warrior who beheads a giant lion, something that’s shockingly identical to Hoarah Loux in Elden Ring. Another rides a dragon, similar to the Nameless King from Dark Souls 3.

Comparisons aside, Nodusfall is an impressive transformation for HoYoverse. Since forever, the publisher thrived on anime aesthetics, highlighted these days by the godly trilogy of Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero.

HoYoverse hasn’t revealed the release date of Nodusfall just yet, but we’re excited to see it in action.
