OPPO Reno 5G is the first commercial 5G phone you can buy in Europe

For Switzerland’s 5G network

Europe’s first commercial 5G network is now up in Switzerland. Since May 1, local telcos in the region already had their new and speedy network. Of course, a 5G network needs a 5G-capable phone.

Fresh from last week’s global debut, OPPO’s Reno 5G is the first commercially available 5G smartphone in Switzerland and in all of Europe. OPPO will sell the Reno 5G in partnership with Swisscom from CHF 999.

Based on the Reno 10x Zoom, the Reno 5G is equipped with triple rear cameras with 10x hybrid zoom. The phone carries Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chip with 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage. Despite 5G’s supposed power consumption, the 4065mAh battery should last a whole day.

OPPO is the first to sell its 5G phone in Europe; however, it won’t be alone. The 5G-enabled variants of Huawei’s Mate 20 X and Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 3 will launch on May 2. It will sell through Sunrise for CHF 997 and CHF 847, respectively.

Since Switzerland fired up its 5G network ahead of other European countries, more 5G phones will start swarming the country. We’re already expecting LG’s V50 ThinQ 5G, Samsung’s Galaxy S10 5G, and Huawei’s Mate X.
