Phones are getting bigger with every release; just look at the new iPhone XS Max and the Galaxy Note 9. When you want a more pocketable and portable device, what are the options? You can consider a smartwatch, but why not this new tiny device?

Palm is back under the helm of TCL (the same company that makes Alcatel and BlackBerry phones today), and they have a new device called… Palm. Yes, it’s just called Palm and it’s not exactly a full-blown smartphone.

It’s a companion accessory for your smartphone, much like how a smartwatch is connected to your main phone. It’s priced at US$ 349 and it’s exclusively available through Verizon in the US.

What does it do? It has to be paired with your smartphone, then you’ll be able to call and text with it. This all happens through Verizon’s number share service, which links your phone number to the Palm. It can also run Android apps for working out, looking for directions, and whatever purpose that doesn’t require a large display.

The Palm is like a tiny phone with a 3.3-inch HD display, Snapdragon 435 processor, 3GB of memory, and 32GB of storage. It’s powered by an 800mAh battery and runs a modified version of Android. The interface looks like Apple’s watchOS to make it easier to use on the small screen.

You don’t always have to type in a long passcode or PIN just to unlock the Palm thanks to its facial recognition security feature, but it’s not as secure as Face ID. It doesn’t support any contactless payment solutions, either.

Design-wise, the Palm has a Gorilla Glass 3 body, front-facing speaker, a gold- or titanium-colored frame, IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, and a USB-C port for charging.

The Palm will be offered by Verizon starting November. Since the carrier is treating the Palm as an extension of your smartphone, it has a US$ 10 monthly fee to have it connected to your number.

It’ll also have accessories available including cases, lanyards, armbands, and even Kate Spade clutches.

In addition, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Series is also available through Infinity Plan 5000 and Infinity Plan 8000.

These packages come with unlimited data, calls, and texts, roaming-ready connectivity, and exclusive Infinity privileges.

Through the Samsung Trade-In Program, customers can also reserve their preferred Galaxy Z8 Series device and complete their trade-in at participating stores once the devices officially launch.

Eligible smartphones can be traded in for up to PhP 14,000 off.

New Samsung Galaxy Watches also available

Lastly, Smart Postpaid and Smart Infinity are offering the new Samsung Galaxy Watch9 and Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2.

After briefly losing its way in the middling fifth and sixth entries, the Resident Evil series rediscovered its way back to the survival horror genre with the seventh entry onwards. However, the series doesn’t have the best reputation in Hollywood with its lackluster reviews. Now, the Hollywood series wants to right the ship with the upcoming reboot, simply titled Resident Evil.

Much like the gaming franchise’s renaissance, the upcoming film heads to the survival horror genre with a frightful caper. Medical courier Bryan (Austin Abrams) is tasked with delivering a vital organ to somewhere outside Raccoon City. Along the way, he runs over a rabid woman, who just disappears when he steps out to check.

Forced to seek help at a nearby shack, he finds himself in a struggle for survival when he discovers monstrous beings lurking around. It gets worse when he returns to the city and finds it overrun with the zombie outbreak.

The trailer has a few Easter eggs, including a typewriter, one of the most traditional ways that the game series uses to save games. Director Zach Cregger (Weapons) promises that the movie itself will have more Easter eggs for longtime fans of the series.

Resident Evil will premiere in theaters on September 18.
