Patapon arrives on the Nintendo Switch via a new remaster bundle
Also coming to Steam and PlayStation
I miss my old PlayStation Portable. Back in the day, I used to play on the console until it was literally falling apart and held only by copious amounts of tape. One of my favorite games from that era was Patapon, an ultra-portable rhythm game you can play anywhere. Today, the first two games of this series are finally getting a more portable remaster on the Nintendo Switch.
Created way back in 2007, Patapon sees you take on the role of a god worshipped by a small tribe of Patapons. Oppressed by an opposing tribe of Zigotons, the Patapons must rally against their enemies to claim ownership over a mysterious and powerful artifact called IT.
For gameplay, players use the beat of a drum — done by rhythmically tapping the corresponding face buttons — to control their Patapon army. For example, a beat of PATA PATA PATA PON causes the army to move forward, while a beat of PON PON PATA PON makes them attack.
Since its launch, the franchise became successful enough to create two sequels and an upcoming successor to the series from a different publisher. Due to its nature, the Patapon series was meant to be on Sony’s portable consoles. However, that didn’t stop Sony from releasing remasters for the PS4 and the PS5.
Today, Patapon is finally coming back to reclaim its spot in the land of portable games. During the recent Nintendo Direct, Bandai Namco has announced a new remaster collection of the first two games in the series called Patapon 1 + 2 Replay.
The new collection features HD graphics and adjustable difficulty sliders. It arrives on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Steam starting July 11.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 clip shows Losing Ground 1st look
Pre-order now for Campaign Early Access
A short new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 teaser shows a quick look at the Losing Ground mission for the first time.
It is one of the big war missions from the title’s Campaign mode, following the Korean grunt squad through chaos on the ground.
The brief clip is a pre-order promotional material, wherein gamers can place pre-orders now on any platform for Campaign Early Access.
This shall allow players to dive into the full single-player campaign a week ahead of the official worldwide release date on October 16.
In the vignette, soldiers can be seen advancing through a burning urban environment while under intense enemy fire.
The squad pushes through a breached storefront into a local cafe to clear enemy strongpoints.
Laster on, out in the open on the bridge, squad members realize they are heavily exposed and call out incoming enemy air support. This was right before an explosion rocks the area.
