Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 price, availability in the Philippines

Now the foldable headliner

Published

on

Samsung has switched up the billing of the Flip and Fold lines. After a few of years of being the secondary device, The Galaxy Z Flip4 now headlines Samsung’s August Unpacked event.

It’s not hard to see why. Of the two devices, it’s the Flip that’s more familiar. It’s a modern throwback, applying the clamshell design from the late 90s and early 2000s to a 2022 smartphone.

Shooting modes

With it comes some fancy new tech. Being able to be folded halfway means it’s open to new video taking possibilities. This shooting instance now aptly called FlexCam is more refined than ever.

Folding the Galaxy Z Flip4, while in camera mode, instantly switches to Flex Mode where you have your viewfinder in the upper half and the camera controls on the lower half.

It’s also now available in more apps. You can shoot directly from the Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook apps and you’ll get the FlexCam interface. Same is true for YouTube. This encourages easier shooting of the now famous short-form videos. Curiously, it left out TikTok which popularized, if not ushered in this new video trend.

The other shooting modes from previous generations are also still here. You have Quick Shot which lets you take selfies using the main camera and the Cover Screen as your viewfinder. Portrait Mode is now also available in this mode.

You can now also take videos with Quick Shot Mode. And if you ever find the need for it, Quick Shot can seamlessly transition to Flex Mode without having to stop the video recording.

If you’re wondering about the numbers on the cameras, here they are:

Front

  • 10MP, f/2.4

Rear:

  • 12MP Ultra Wide, f/2.2
  • 12MP Wide Angle, f/1.8

Under the hood

The Galaxy Z Flip4 isn’t just some fancy lifestyle smartphone that lags in performance. Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage.

The battery also sees a bit of a bump going from the 3,300mAh to 3,700mAh. Together with the new processor, this hopefully solves the Galaxy Z Flip3’s primary pain point which is a rather unsatisfactory battery life.

It supports Super Fast Charging which can get it from zero percent to 50 percent in around 30 minutes. Provided you’re using at least a 25W adapter which, as you know, is sold separately.

The phone has an IPX8 water resistance meaning it should be able to go as deep as 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. Still, we typically don’t recommend taking this for a swim.

Lastly, it’s running ONE UI 4.1.1 based on Android 12.

The Galaxy Z Flip4 pricing are as follows:

  • 128GB – PHP 58,990
