Smart outs new GigaX Plans with extra data allowance for streaming

Smart just introduced their new postpaid plans in time for the arrival of new flagships phones. With more people using their phone to consume entertainment through video streaming services, the telco outs the new GigaX Plans.

The new GigaX Plans offer additional data allowance that’s dedicated to services like YouTube and iFlix. Upon checking Smart’s website, it looks like these new plans will replace existing postpaid plans that were previously offered.

The new postpaid plans start from Plan 599 up to Plan 1999. Here’s a table of the new GigaX Plans for easy reading:

If you watch a lot on YouTube and have a premium subscription to iFlix, Fox+, and iWantTV, the new plans would be ideal for your needs. However, those who don’t rely on such services might not be able to take advantage of the offer.

Part of the perks of the new plans is the limited offer of double data allowance for the first six months, for example: 5GB data allowance (2.5GB x 2) for Plan 599. Other special offers include discounted calls to Smart and TNT at PhP 4/minute and free one-month Gadget Care. Plans 999 and above have the privilege to extend the validity of unused data until the next month, excluding the data allotted for video streaming.

As of writing, only three phones are available as bundled handsets, namely the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, OPPO F5, and Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro. Like any other postpaid plan, the new GigaX Plans have a standard 24-month contract.
