Venom and Adam Warlock revealed

Marvel Rivals PS5

Announced a couple of months ago with the closed-alpha test happening in May, it was revealed at PlayStation’s State of Play that Hero Shooter PvP game Marvel Rivals is also coming to the PS5.

The showcase also revealed two new characters added to the roster: Venom and Adam Warlock.

In this 6v6 Super Hero Team-Based PVP Shooter, heroes are split into three distinct roles. These are based on their unique power inclinations: Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist. You’re free to pick your preferred role and hero, teaming up with allies to create a versatile and dynamic lineup for battle.

It feels very similar to games like Overwatch and Valorant. Players can use their chosen hero’s powers in the fight. Yes, they’re calling it powers because the developers want you to feel like the superheroes. Powers can synergize with others. For example, Doctor Strange can open a portal for the Punisher to shoot through. NetEase says that there are both obvious and secret synergies throughout the game.

The game also lets you tear down walls to open shortcuts across the map or destroy a building’s foundation to collapse it on your foes. You can do these through a Hulk Smash, a blast from Iron Man, and more.

Some of the already confirmed heroes include: Storm, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Groot, Hulk, Iron Man, Loki, Luna Snow, and Spider-Man. PlayStation players will also get a bonus: Spidey has a PS5 exclusive Scarlet Spider suit.

Closed Beta Test on PlayStation will happen in July, 2024. You can wishlist the game now.

Ghost of Yotei gets a story expansion in October

The Complete Edition comes with the expansion and a roguelike mode.

Ghost of Yotei is a classic RPG experience set in the same universe as its predecessor, Ghost of Tsushima. In my opinion, Atsu’s journey of revenge feels a lot more fun than Jin’s battle to save his homeland. If you’re in the same boat, Ghost of Yotei is coming back on October 1 with brand-new content.

Without delving too much into spoiler territory, Ghost of Yotei has a conclusive ending. Rather than shoehorning a forced epilogue, Echoes of Sekigahara, the title of the upcoming story expansion, explores Atsu’s past.

As with Tsushima’s expansion, Echoes of Sekigahara features a new map with new enemies, weapons, and collectibles. It will be set in two different time periods.

Besides the story expansion, the upcoming update also has a new mode called Most Wanted, which Sucker Punch Production describes as their “spin on a roguelike.” The mode explores Atsu’s experience as a headhunter, feeding her with bounties and earnable perks.

The two new content expansions will come with in the upcoming Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition. The new edition, coming on October 1, will also come with the co-op Legends mode. It also has a few perks and customization options. The edition will sell for US$ 70.

If you already have the base edition, you can grab an upgrade for only US$ 15. If you don’t want to pay for the upgrade, the game is still getting a few minor tweaks.
