Acer’s Enduro line is designed to take a beating

A lot of beating

Published

on

This year’s Next at Acer is remarkable in how the company had a specific target for each range of products. The Chromebooks are for regular consumers and businesses, ConceptD for designers and creators, and Enduro for outdoor, industrial work. Here, we’ll explore Enduro.

The Enduro line is composed of rugged notebooks and tablets. These devices feature MIL-810G and up to IP65 certifications. They are designed for first responders, field and manufacturing workers.

In addition to physical protection, the devices also include a host of security and management services such as the Acer Enduro Manageability Suite (AEMS).

Acer Enduro N7 Rugged Notebook

The Acer Enduro N7 is a rugged notebook constructed with shock-absorbent materials. The device should be able to withstand drops onto the hardest flooring and resist the ingress of dust and water.

This durability makes the device suitable for work, hot or cold. Its 700-nit, 14-inch FHD screen offers great visibility whether inside or outside. The Enduro N7 also comes with dual batteries: one hot-swappable battery with a long 10-hour life and another built-in bridge battery.

Inside it has a quad-core 8th Gen Intel Core i5 CPU. It’s also equipped with a host of security features. Hardware-level Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0 checks for any signs of intrusion during startup and the Acer Enduro Manageability Suite (AEMS) serves to help protect the device. A fingerprint sensor supports more secure logins through Windows Hello.

Acer Enduro N3 Rugged Notebook

The Acer Enduro N3 strikes a balance between durability and portability. It’s ideal for users who rotate between several worksites or even lovers of the outdoors. Architects, project inspectors, event managers, agricultural plant personnel are some of the jobs its aimed at.

It is resistant to drops and water with MIL-STD 810G and IP53 certifications. It does this while maintaining a thin-and-light frame of just 24.85 mm (0.98 in) at 1.985 kg (4.37 lb).

Some of these features include reinforced corners for drops, Corning Gorilla Glass to protect the display from water and the unique water-resistant Aquafan.

It’s powered by a 10th Gen Intel Core i7 processor and 32 GB of DDR4 RAM, giving it reliable performance, with an optional NVIDIA GeForce MX230 discrete GPU and 1 TB PCle Gen3 NVMe SSD. It promises up to 13 hours of battery life.

Acer Enduro T5 Rugged Tablet

The Acer Enduro T5 (ET510-51W) is a durable 10-inch Windows tablet designed for long periods of work in extreme environments. Its 10-hour battery can be swapped out, enabling continuous usage.

It’s powered by a 7th Gen Intel Core m3 processor with MIL-STD 810G and IP65 certifications and AEMS. Accessories such as docking stations, hand grips, shoulder straps, 4-point shoulder straps, car chargers and car holders are available to expand its functionality and mobility.

Acer Enduro T1 Rugged Tablets

The Acer Enduro T1 (ET110-31W) is a flexible and rugged 10-inch Windows tablet that can double as a 10.1-inch notebook via an optional portfolio keyboard.

It’s positioned as a reliable and convenient on-the-go device with its MIL-STD 810G4 and IP54 certifications, combined with an Intel Celeron processor and 64 GB of eMMC storage space. It can also be used while wearing gloves.

Pricing and availability

The Acer Enduro N3 will be available in North America in August starting at US$ 899 and in Europe in June, starting at EUR 999. Everything else has yet to be announced.

Exact specifications, prices, and availability will vary by region.

The Googlebook is the next evolution of the Chromebook

Notebooks are coming later this year.

Published

on

Chromebooks did not become the go-to alternative for laptop users on a budget. Given how the market looks today, it could have been a matter of “right place, wrong time.” Today, Google is trying again with the new Googlebook lineup.

The Googlebook is different from the Chromebook. Though both platforms allow Android apps to run natively, the Googlebook will focus more on building a foundation on Gemini Intelligence.

Of course, the Android ecosystem is still a focal point. The Googlebook can run apps from the ecosystem and can connect seamlessly with Android phones. Specifically, users can access their phone’s apps and files directly from the notebook without waiting for transfers.

As for the Gemini part, the Googlebook starts by reinventing the cursor. The new Magic Pointer brings the wonder of Gemini to your mouse. A wiggle of the cursor wakes the software, which contextualizes anything it’s pointed to. For example, pointing at a date will ask you if you want to schedule a meeting. Pointing at two photos might merge the two into an AI-generated mashup.

Additionally, Create a Widget will allow you to customize software to perfectly tailor to your needs. Using Gemini, the Googlebook can collate everything you need on your dashboard.

Currently, there are no official models set to come out just yet. However, Google has confirmed that Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo have committed to bringing out the Googlebook this fall. Naturally, each of these brands will have their own take on lineup, but the one thing uniting them will be a unique glowbar to set them apart from other notebooks.
