Foldable iPhone finishes durability testing

One step closer to launch

While 2019 and 2020 ushered in a burgeoning foldable market, Apple has barely teased its own entry into the new form factor. However, to the company’s dismay, Apple can barely hide its own internal tests, too. A Taiwanese news source has spotted two foldable iPhone prototypes passing through durability tests.

According to Taiwanese outlet Economic Daily News, Apple’s Foxconn facilities in China have recently finished testing two foldable prototypes for the iPhone maker. The finished testing marks the next step towards a finished foldable iPhone soon.

Based on the source’s findings, one prototype is a dual-screen model not unlike the traditional foldable form factors available today. Presumably, the first design has a larger screen when unfolded and a secondary screen when folded.

Meanwhile, the second prototype compares more to the clamshell model. Whereas the former unfolds like a book, the second one unfolds like an old flip phone, bringing comparisons to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series. If the resemblance wasn’t enough, Apple supposedly purchased its supply of foldable displays from Samsung directly.

Previously, other sources had already teased the device coming in development. Now, we’re one step closer. With two prototypes in the bag, Apple is building a foldable lineup similar to Samsung’s own foldable lineup.

So far, Apple has not teased at a potential launch date for a foldable iPhone. However, according to previous reports, we can expect a launch sometime in 2022.

vivo V27

vivo’s highly-touted Aura Light — a ring light that effectively replaces the regular flash on the rear of smartphones — on its vivo V27 series 5G made quite the impression from the get-go.

The wait is over for those intrigued about it, as preorders for the latest devices are now available via vivo’s online store.

The series comes in two variants — the vivo V27e which retails for PhP 16,999, and the vivo V27 5G which is priced at PhP 24,999.

Simple, elegant design

Veering away from the matte finish that has become more common in midrange phones, vivo opted for a polished gem-like design for the vivo V27 series.

Both are equipped with 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED screens. The 7.36mm 3D curved screen on the V27 5G is the thinnest yet for a V series phone. Meanwhile, the V27e has a 7.7mm thickness.

There are three colorway choices:

  • Color-changing Emerald Green
  • Lavender Purple
  • Glory Black (specifically for the V27e, which is said to shimmer at night)

Innovative, powerful cameras

As previously mentioned, the vivo V27 series has a f/1.9 IMX766V 50MP ultra-sensing main camera.

This is supported by EIS+OIS dual ultra-stabilization for sharp and high-quality shots even when moving or at night.

The Aura Portrait Algorithm paves the way for impressive image and video-processing yet on a vivo smartphone for its category.

Is it on Huawei AppGallery

This is the question we get asked most when people are curious about a Huawei smartphone.

It’s no secret to anyone the challenges that Huawei faces.  But they’ve done a wonderful job beefing up their own library of apps. The essentials are there. And now, we’re happy to report that they also added these apps for your mobile gaming pleasure.

These are: Roblox, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Genshin Impact.

Here’s how easy it is to download these apps through the Huawei AppGallery.

Roblox

Roblox describes itself as “the ultimate virtual universe that lets you create, share experiences with friends”.

It appears to be very popular with kids. And some K-Pop groups have even launched partnerships with the game during their mini album releases.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang or simply Mobile Legends is a game many of you should be familiar with, especially if you live in Southeast Asia.

It’s become the de facto MOBA game for many in the region. So much so that huge tournaments have been held over the past few years.

Call of Duty: Mobile

Call of Duty is already a popular franchise on its own. It also found huge success in Asia with its mobile version.

Call of Duty is no stranger to seasonal content as even their flagship titles operate in the same manner year after year. This is likely why players keep coming back.

Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact took the world by storm when it first launched in 2020. The anime-like art style along with the engaging gameplay and story made it a huge hit.

HoYoverse continues to provide fresh content to this day, expanding the already vast world in the game.
