iPhone 13 will reportedly have 120Hz screens

Despite the notable lack of iPhone 12 news, analysts have already moved forward towards the iPhone 13. Even before the launch this year’s iPhone series, a report has swiftly divulged some rumored details about next year’s iPhone. For one, the iPhone 13 will reportedly have 120Hz screens.

According to analyst Ross Young, all four iPhone models next year will finally ship with a much awaited 120Hz display. Analysts have previously speculated on the 120Hz display’s arrival in the iPhone 12 this year. However, reported supply problems (and likely, the increasing production costs of 5G hardware) have pushed the feature to future models.

Besides the upgraded screens, the iPhone 13 series will all come with 5G compatibility — with both Pro models shipping with mmWave and sub-6GHz technologies. This is no surprise since this year’s iPhone 12 will reportedly debut with 5G compatibility.

Further, the two starting iPhone 13 models will launch with the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s rear camera combination, an already expected trend going forward. Meanwhile, the two Pro models will have a higher 1.9µm triple rear camera combo and a ToF sensor.

In other news, the analyst’s report also states that the third iPhone SE will launch during the spring of 2022. Earlier this year, Apple resurrected the iPhone SE lineup with a sequel to the original model.

Of course, early iPhone 13 reports should be taken with a grain of salt. The iPhone 12 hasn’t even launched yet. Certainly, a lot of things can still change between now and next year’s iPhone launch window.

Tongue-in-cheek marketing is a soothing balm for a world where false promises are more often advertised. But, what happens when those tongue-in-cheek jokes strike a nerve and make you think, “maybe this isn’t a joke anymore”? Polaroid, a huge proponent of analog technology, has put up such a billboard to enjoy the beach “before the data centers drink it all up.”

Right in front of Coney Island (and right in time for summer), Polaroid has a simple message: “Go jump in the water before the data centers drink it all up.”

Though funny by itself, the message plays on an ongoing fear that today’s data centers, built for AI, have such a high water requirement that each query takes up gallons every time. This is, of course, slightly hyperbolic, but data centers are indeed exerting a lot of pressure on their area’s resources. They take a lot of water for cooling and electricity to keep open.

In a statement, Polaroid says that they’re not anti-digital. Rather, “we know we have to live alongside it, but we’re deeply pro-human and know what humanity gives us. And we know what we stand to lose if we don’t protect it. That’s a fight worth fighting,” says Polaroid’s creative director Patricia Varella, via LBB.

Now, this isn’t a completely altruistic ad. It’s still advertising the new Go Generation 3. Still, if you’re looking for a product to go alongside today’s shifting sentiments against AI, a Polaroid might be it.

PC and handheld gamers can officially skip the wait, as AMD has launched its FSR 4.1 upscaling technology for Radeon RX 7000 series (RDNA 3) GPUs.

Computing and Graphics Group Senior Vice President and GM Jack Huynh made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter). This development brings machine learning powered gaming to millions of players across more than 300 games.

By downloading the latest AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.2 driver, users can unlock the new AI upscaling suite on existing RX 7000 series desktop graphics cards.
