New iPhones to come at September Apple Event

Are all the rumors true?

Published

on

It’s almost like clockwork now. We all know the new iPhones will come every September. Question is exactly when. For 2019, the date is September 10.

Per usual the Apple Special Event will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater and will start at 10AM (GMT-7).

The Apple logo on the invite is noticeably splashed in color. This suggests that rumors that the company will bring back the old rainbow logo might actually be true.

Curiously, the invites sent were marked “By Innovations Only” instead of by invitation only. This is a bold claim — which Apple has a habit of making — considering how Apple appears to be late in innovations that other phone makers had introduced.  Just recently, it was reported that the company was building an in-display fingerprint sensor. A tech that most flagships (and even non-flagships) have had since early 2018.

Despite the company looking like they are in catch-up mode, we can still expect them to make tech that’s consumer-ready. Which is something we can’t say from some innovative but perhaps premature announcements early in the year.

What to expect on the new iPhones

There has been a fair amount of rumors over the upcoming iPhones. Chief among them is the Hidden Mickey-ish triple camera setup. Other rumors suggest there will be a new taptic engine system called leap haptics along with an upgraded selfie camera and better.

In 2018, Apple launched three iPhone models and there’s a fair amount of murmurs suggesting the same is true for this year. However, we don’t know yet exactly what the new iPhones will be named. We will all have to find out together a little over week into September.

New leak reveals Motorola phone with a stylus

What could it be?

Published

on

All eyes are on the Motorola razr. After more than a decade in oblivion, the iconic flip phone has returned with a vengeance. Besides courting nostalgia, the new Motorola razr has jumped onto the foldable bandwagon. With that in the books, what’s next for Motorola?

According to a new leak from Evan Blass, Motorola is chasing after the stylus market. The render portrays a slab phone with a detachable stylus.

On the surface, the slab phone carries only a few notable aspects: a top-left peephole camera, no home button, and a sizable chin bezel. However, the stylus obviously slots into one of the phone’s four corners. Two small features on the stylus’ handle also point to button functionalities.

Regardless, the phone remains a mystery. When will this phone come out? No one knows.

At the moment, Motorola is still working on the Motorola Edge+, the company’s first flagship in a while. Even with the timeliness, the leaked phone is unlikely to be the Edge+.

Compared to other companies, Motorola is only starting to get back into the groove of things. However, with a plan slowly developing (even through rumors), Motorola’s future is shaping up to be a good one.

Tinder adds a panic button for dates that go wrong

Safety first!

Published

on

Tinder is like a box of chocolates. You never know who you’re going to get: the girl next door, the workroom hottie, or (worse) the creepy stalker. Unfortunately, the popular dating app can lead to a lot of terrible nights. Bad dates are, of course, not the end of the world. Ending up with a psycho partner, however, can quickly lead to dangerous situations.

In a long-overdue move, Tinder is finally implemented a panic button for dates that go horribly wrong. The emergency feature will alert authorities and safety personnel if things go sideways. Additionally, it can keep trusted friends updated on where you are.

The panic button will come in partnership with a third-party safety platform called Noonlight. Once installed, the feature will coordinate with both apps. When connected, Noonlight will share updates through the Tinder Timeline.

The actual panic button is located inside Noonlight. When pressed, the button will alert authorities. Afterwards, connected authorities will start texting the individual. If unanswered, they will start calling. If it comes up unanswered again, authorities will go to the individual’s location.

Starting next week, the feature will roll out through a new Tinder tab called Safety Center. The launch will start initially in the US. After the initial launch, the panic button will come to Tinder’s sister services including OkCupid and Match.com.

Besides the panic button, Tinder will also add verification methods to ensure truthful accounts. Users can get verification by recreating their account’s various photos. If the photos match, they get verified.

So raw, emotional, and honest

When tech giants create ads and films, you can expect it to be heartwarming. For instance, Apple released a Chinese New Year special, guaranteed to make you tearful and warm.

Entitled “The Daughter,” the short film tackled hope, love, and reconciliation featuring three generations of Chinese women.

It has the elements you need for a good cry — a realistic depiction of disagreement between a mother and daughter, a single parent’s determination to provide a good life, and a child’s curiosity, optimism, and innocence.

Apple Singapore brought together three talented individuals to create this emotional film. Oscar-nominated folks — director Theodore Melfi and cinematographer Lawrence Sher — worked with China’s top actress Zhou Xun in producing the film through an iPhone 11 Pro.

Once again, Apple proves iPhone’s prowess in the video department. There’s a reason why we held iPhone 11 Pro as the best smartphone for photography and videography — there’s nothing like it! Watch the video here.
