League of Legends’ animated Netflix show is coming soon!
Out by this fall!

The new animated series is titled Arcane. And, it’s coming from the League of Legends (LoL) publishers themselves: Riot games. Despite releasing countless animated shorts, Arcane is a first for the League franchise. Riot Games partnered with Fortiche Productions to develop and produce this series; keeping character designs and art close to home.
Since the first hint of it in 2019, fans have been waiting patiently for this release. And if you want the series now, you’ll have to wait a little bit longer. It’ll be out on Netflix and on Tencent Video in China by fall this year.
We follow two iconic League champions, their origins, and the power that tears them apart. The backdrop to the story is the utopian region of Piltover and the oppressed underground of Zaun.
Riot Game’s Global President of Entertainment, Shauna Spenley said, “Arcane was created as a love letter to our players and fans, who have been asking us for more cinematic experiences that dive deeper into the worlds and champions in League of Legends.”
Netflix’s video game animated series
Arcane is just one of few new video game adaptation slates in Netflix’s lineup. Which, spells good news for fans and players of games. One recent release was Dota: Dragon’s Blood, an animated series inspired by Valve’s multiplayer online battle arena (moba) game DOTA 2. Other Netflix series based on the video game realm include Assassin’s Creed, Castlevania, Cuphead, Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, and Assassin’s Creed.

Netflix coming soon: Yu Yu Hakusho, Avatar, Umbrella Academy
Plan your holidays and early 2024

Aside from the endless gatherings and celebrations this holiday season, there is no better way to spend the spare time than by catching up on films and series on Netflix and preparing for titles that are releasing soon.
Here are seven anticipated titles coming to the streaming platform from December 2023 to the first quarter of 2024. Plan ahead!
December 1: Sweet Home Season 2
Sweet Home is returning with a second season after successfully enthralling audiences around the world as the first K-creature series.
The second season sees Hyun-su (Song Kang) returning along with the Green Home survivors as they fight to survive in new places while other beings and mysterious phenomena emerge.
December 14: Yu Yu Hakusho
“Anong gentle-gentle?”
The anticipated live-action adaptation of the beloved anime series known as Ghost Fighter in the Philippines is finally launching on Netflix next month.
Yusuke is a 14-year-old who dies in a car accident while trying to protect a young boy. This act earns him a chance to be revived and appointed as an Underworld Detective who investigates supernatural activity in the human world.
December 22: Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child From Fire
The latest from Zack Snyder, Rebel Moon — Part One: A Child From Fire is an epic science-fantasy event decades in the making.
When a peaceful settlement on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, a mysterious stranger named Kora (Sofia Boutella) becomes their best hope for survival.
December 22: Gyeongseong Creature
Set in the spring of 1945 at a mysterious hospital in Gyeongseong (present-day Seoul), the suspenseful series follows wealthy entrepreneur Jang Tae-sang (Park Seo-jun) and famous bounty hunter Yun Chae-ok (Han So-hee) as they battle monstrous creatures born out of human greed.
February 22, 2024: Avatar: The Last Airbender
With a release date announced just days ago, this live-action adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon series features the young Avatar Aang as he learns to master the four elements of Water, Earth, Fire and Air and restore balance to a world threatened by the terrifying Fire Nation.
Coming in 2024: The Umbrella Academy Season 4
The countdown to 2024 begins now as The Umbrella Academy is set to return with its final season.
Season 3 of the title reached No. 1 on Netflix’s Top 10 English TV List. It took viewers on a time-traveling journey packed with challenges, losses, and surprises. But more is yet to come.
An exclusive featurette and teaser art have also been released at Geeked Week, showing the cast as they tease everyone about the show’s fourth and final season.
Coming in 2024: Damsel
Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown is back to headline Damsel, where her character marries a handsome prince.
However, she finds out that the royal family has only recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt.
As she is thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive.
Quite literally a damsel in distress, right?

As the platform winds down Stranger Things, its biggest tentpole franchise, Netflix is relying more on its own adaptations of existing franchises such as the upcoming Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Now, the platform is adding another franchise to its growing list: the Terminator series.
Announced during Geeked Week 2023, Netflix has officially announced an anime adaptation of Terminator coming soon. Arguably, the format is an odd one for the iconic sci-fi action series. If anything, Production I.G. is helming the production. The studio is most well known for creating the original Ghost in the Shell movie.
Written by showrunner Mattson Tomlin, Terminator: The Anime Series will be set in 1997, just when Skynet starts threatening humanity. Other than that, details are still scant.
Unfortunately, there’s not much to go on. Netflix doesn’t have the most proven record when it comes to anime adaptations. If anything, its live action adaptations of anime series were only recently redeemed by the acclaimed One Piece adaptation.
Besides the Terminator series, Netflix is also scheduled to release an anime series based on the 2010 cult film (and graphic novel series) Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. Netflix’s future is rife with anime.
