realme has confirmed that the upcoming realme 12 Pro series will come with a flagship periscope telephoto camera and a luxury watch design.

Aligned with the company’s rebranding recently announced by founder and CEO Sky Li, realme is positioning its would-be latest number series offering to become a leading imaging phone in its category.

realme first introduced its proprietary periscope camera on the realme GT5 Pro late last year. The realme 12 Pro series is about to adopt the same approach.

Best telephoto lens in the segment

The realme 12 Pro series will have a periscope telephoto camera with a one-half inch OV64B sensor. It is twice as large as the sensor on the iPhone 15 Pro.

This will allow the phones to absorb more light with a larger aperture. It enhances night shot clarity and stability while reducing flare and ghosting.

The three technologies that shall help users achieve such captures are prism tilt OIS, sub-wavelength structure coating, and wave pattern lens shade. All of which were all used with the GT5 Pro too.

Once the realme 12 Pro series is released, users will be able to try up to a 120X digital zoom. There’s also the 3X Portrait Mode with 71mm golden portrait focal length.

Flagship zoom imaging capability

Meanwhile, the realme 12 Pro’s main camera will be a Sony IMX980 OIS which is best suited for nighttime photography.

It has a 1/1.56-inch sensor, 24mm equivalent focal length, and a wide f/1.8 aperture. With OIS support, the camera is expected to provide stable video recording.

Making everything work together is an enhanced image processing with the help of MasterShot Algorithm. This includes LightFusion Engine for enhanced clarity and tone, plus the NightEye Engine for superior captures at night or under poor lighting conditions.

Luxury watch design

The realme 12 Pro’s exterior will also stand out from the rest of the competition. The company has tapped luxury watch design master Ollivier Savéo to create the design for the phones.

Taking inspiration from classic luxury watches, the phones will adopt a Submarine Blue premium vegan leather finish with golden metal lines, as well as other elements like a polished sunburst dial and 3D jubilee bracelet.

The realme 12 Pro series 5G will release in January 2024.
