Smart vacuums are getting better and smarter. Today, at IFA Berlin 2023, Roborock unveiled the latest evolution of its smart vacuum lineup. Rounding out the series, get ready for the Q5 Pro and the Q8 Max.

Starting off the series is the new entry-level Q5 Pro. The Q8 Max, on the other hand, comes with more advanced features such as obstacle avoidance technology.

Both models come with a powerful DuoRoller Brush. The system increases the vacuum’s ability to pick up hair from carpets while reducing hair tangles from doing so. It also has a suction power of 5,500Pa to cover other dirt particles.

Roborock is also boosting the vacuum’s intelligence. Both model’s intelligence will have LiDAR-based navigation which can accurately map its surroundings. Users can control the robot’s path and set no-go zones straight from the app. Meanwhile, the Q8 Max will also have a Reactive Tech Obstacle Avoidance System which allows the vacuum to automatically maneuver around household objects.

Both models will allow simultaneous vacuuming and moping capabilities. Meanwhile, the plus versions of each — meaning, the Q5 Pro+ and the Q8 Max+, will have the RockDock Plus auto-emptying dock with E-12 Rated dust bags. Each bag can store up to seven weeks’ worth of dust.

Dyad Pro Combo

If you prefer cleaning manually, Roborock has also launched the new Dyad Pro Combo. Acting as a two-in-one device, the vacuum can switch uses with four additional attachments. These accessories allow the vacuum to clean up both dry and wet messes.

The Dyad Pro Combo sucks up messes at 17,000Pa of suction power. It also has intelligent features such as the ability to adapt cleaning power, water flow, and dispensing cleaning solution. For maintenance, the vacuum automatically cleans the roller brushes and dries them with 50°C of hot air.

Zeo One

Roborock is also in the washing machine market. During IFA 2023, the company also launched the Zeo One, an all-in-one machine that can accomplish both washing and drying. With a quieter engine, the machine can wash 10kg and dry 6kg of fabric.

The machine’s cycle can soak up to 288,000m2 of moisture. The LintClear Self-Cleaning System can also automatically clean the lint filter by itself.

Finally, the Zeo One is controllable with an app on your phone.

Price and availability

All appliances, except the Zeo One, will be available in October. The Q5 Pro starts at US$ 429.99. The Q8 Max will start at US$ 599.99. Finally, the Dyad Pro Combo will start at US$ 659.99. The availability of the Zeo One will be announced at a later date.

NIU’s KQi Air is the lightest electric scooters for your commute

Made with carbon fiber

Published

on

With traffic nowadays, cars aren’t the best ways to traverse the metro anymore. If you’re looking for alternative ways to get around town, scooters remain a viable option. At IFA Berlin 2023, NIU unveiled an incredibly light electric scooter for today’s urban commuter.

The KQi Air series is built for micromobility. The two models — KQi Air and KQi Air X — weigh only around 26lbs. Despite how light they are, they are made with carbon fiber for enhanced durability. Whereas the KQi Air has a 70-30 ratio of carbon fiber and magnesium, the KQi Air X (built with a matte finish) is 100 percent carbon fiber.

For distance, both models have a top speed of 20mph (or around 32 km/h). They have a range of 31 miles (or a bit less than 50 kilometers). The 9.5-inch pneumatic tubeless tires can easily go through most obstacles you’ll find in an urban landscape. Plus, dual disc brakes ensure effective stopping power.

For technology, the series comes with NIU’s usual touchless unlocking methods. They come with an NFC card so users can unlock their scooter with just a tap. Alternatively, users can use Bluetooth or the traditional NIU app. Users can also remotely trigger a loud alarm to prevent theft.

Now, the NIU app offers a lot of feature for commuters. It allows users to customize starting speed, acceleration, top speed, and regenerative braking. The last one can extend the scooter’s range by up to 62 miles in a single year.

The KQi Air series will start its pre-sale on September 19. The regular model — available in red or silver — will cost US$ 1,399. Meanwhile, the Air X — available in gold — will cost US$ 1,799.
