Samsung launches Odyssey Neo G9, OLED G9

Ahead of CES 2023

A new year means new devices. Barely a day into 2023, Samsung is already coming out swinging with a slew of new monitors, ushering in the next generation of display technology. Ahead of CES 2023, the South Korean brand has unveiled the Odyssey Neo G9 and the Odyssey OLED G9.

Odyssey Neo G9

Inarguably the highlight between the two new monitors, the Odyssey Neo G9 delivers, for the first time ever, dual ultra-high definition resolution in a single monitor. The monitor puts out 7680 x 2160 resolution and a 32:9 aspect ratio, a behemoth for display technology.

The large 100R curved 57-inch screen boasts quantum mini LED technology to bring modern games to life. Further, the matte texture reduces light reflection on the screen, keeping gaming sessions uninterrupted by errant light. It also puts out images in a buttery-smooth 240Hz refresh rate.

Finally, the monitor comes with the world’s first support for DisplayPort 2.1. The new standard transfers data around twice as fast as the old DisplayPort 1.4 standard.

Odyssey OLED G9

Though smaller than its larger cousin, the Odyssey OLED G9 is just as capable of putting out amazing images. Featuring a 49-inch 1800R curved display, the monitor uses dual quad-HD technology to power images at a 32:9 ratio.

Because the monitor’s quantum dot technology lights each pixel individually, the Odyssey OLED G9 delivers true RGB and true black accurately. For smoother displays, the monitor boasts 0.1ms response time and 240Hz refresh rate.

Finally, the monitor comes with its own suite of software including Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video. It also has Samsung Gaming Hub which seamlessly facilitates cloud gaming software. Users won’t need a PC or a console to enjoy the monitor’s display.

ViewFinity S9 and Smart Monitor M8

Appealing beyond the gaming market, the ViewFinity S9 is a 5K 27-inch screen designed for creative professionals. The monitor puts outs images in 5120 x 2880 resolution with a wide color gamut of 99 percent DCI-P3. Users can also manually fine-tune color precision and brightness with their smartphones through the Samsung Smart Calibration app.

The monitor itself has USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 ports to transfer data between devices. It also comes with a 4K SlimFit camera to ease video conferencing.

Finally, the Smart Monitor M8 expands its lineup to include a 27-inch model. Like the original 32-inch model, the 27-inch variant launches with 4K resolution. On its own, the monitor can control hundreds of smart home devices. It also has a suite of its own apps to maximize usage even without a PC.

It comes in Daylight Blue, Spring Green, Sunset Pink, and Warm White.

Meanwhile, the visual experience is about to be taken to new heights further, with HP’s new E-series G5 monitors which range from the 21.5 to 44.5-inch sizes and are all capable of displaying 4K seamlessly.

The HP E45c G5, in particular, is the world’s first QHD dual curved monitor which showcases a super ultrawide Virtual Dual Display feature.

Essentially, there is just one extra-long monitor instead of two monitors which need to be combined side-by-side to create the ultimate gaming setup.

The M24h and M27h FHD monitors also provide upgraded experiences while coming with improved ergonomics to tailor fit users’ postures and viewing angles.
