Unknown Vivo phone appears with slimmest bezels we’ve ever seen

The term “borderless” or “bezel-free” gets thrown around a lot for phones that have trimmed edges, but truth be told, they aren’t exactly devoid of extra space surrounding their screens — even the Essential Phone, Mi Mix 2, and iPhone X have some form of notch or workaround to fit the front-facing camera and earpiece.

For this mysterious phone, it’s as borderless as it could get for a smartphone.

Picked up from Weibo, this is supposedly a concept device from Vivo. It has an incredible screen-to-body ratio, the likes of which we’ve never seen before:

Seeing no fingerprint reader on the front of this handset leads to the possibility of Vivo being its maker, since they’ve already released a smartphone with an under-display fingerprint sensor. The brand can also be identified by its app icons, which look just like those from Vivo’s FunTouch Android skin.

But there’s a bigger concern: Where’s the selfie camera? With no space on the thin bottom bezel and no known technology for an under-display camera yet, we question the usability of this smartphone, let alone its authenticity.

Still, if this is the future of smartphone design, we’re all for it — just as long as it can take our selfies like we’re used to.
