Globe vs Smart: Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus postpaid plans
The two major wireless service providers in the Philippine have finally released their postpaid plans for the new Apple iPhone 8 and 8 Plus. Which provider offers the better deal? Let’s find out.
Globe and Smart are offering Apple’s latest smartphones to subscribers through regular postpaid plans for as cheap as Plan 500 or up to Plan 2499. Each plan has its inclusions and cash-out fees. In this comparison, we’re taking a look at the telcos’ recommended postpaid plans: ThePLAN 1799 for Globe and iPhone Plan 1999 for Smart.
iPhone 8 (64GB)
If we’re to avail ourselves of the Apple iPhone 8 (64GB), this is the breakdown:
Globe |
Smart |
|
| Plan | ThePLAN 1799 | iPhone Plan 1999 |
| Calls | Unlimited to Globe/TM | 70 minutes to all networks |
| Texts | Unlimited to all networks | Unlimited to all networks |
| Data | 11GB | 12GB |
| Freebies |
|
|
| Device Fee | PhP 800/month | PhP 700/month |
| Total Monthly Fee | PhP 2,599 | PhP 2,699 |
| Contract Period | 24 months | 24 months |
| Total Cost | PhP 62,376 | PhP 64,776 |
With Globe, their regular package of unlimited voice calls within their network is included, plus unlimited texts to any network in the country. For mobile data, they offer 11GB of open data, which means this is what you’ll use for any internet activity on your phone (i.e., streaming, browsing, downloading, or tethering). The usual freebies of Netflix, Disney, and Spotify subscriptions are included, as well. The device has a PhP 19,200 cash-out, but the telco offers it through a monthly installment of PhP 800 (either charged to your bill or your own credit card). As always, a standard 24-month contract is required. The phone and the plan will cost PhP 2,599 per month or PhP 62,376 for the whole contract period.
Smart’s plan is quite different. It has unlimited texts and 70 minutes of voice calls to all networks. If already consumed, users can enjoy discounted call rate of PhP 4 per minute to Smart/TNT. The plan has 12GB of open data with free monthly access to an app, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Viber, or Waze. It’s got a PhP 16,800 cash-out or PhP 700 monthly installment, which can be charged to your postpaid bill or credit card, too. A 24-month contract will be in effect with a total monthly fee of PhP 2,699 or PhP 64,776 for two years.
iPhone 8 Plus (64GB)
If you’re after the iPhone 8 Plus, it’ll be a bit more expensive:
Globe |
Smart |
|
| Plan | ThePLAN 1799 | iPhone Plan 1999 |
| Calls | Unlimited to Globe/TM | 70 minutes to all networks |
| Texts | Unlimited to all networks | Unlimited to all networks |
| Data | 11GB | 12GB |
| Freebies |
|
|
| Device Fee | PhP 1,050/month | PhP 1,000/month |
| Total Monthly Fee | PhP 2,849 | PhP 2,999 |
| Contract Period | 24 months | 24 months |
| Total Cost | PhP 68,376 | PhP 71,976 |
Since we’re still under the same postpaid plans on both telcos, nothing changed with the allocations. What’s different is the device fee, driving up the monthly and total cost of the plans.
Globe offers the bigger iPhone for PhP 25,200 or PhP 1,050 per month to make it lighter on the pocket. The total monthly fee is PhP 2,849 and will add up to PhP 68,376 over two years. Smart’s cash-out is slightly cheaper at PhP 24,000 or Php 1,000 per month, which means the total monthly fee is PhP 2,999. Doing the math, it’ll cost PhP 71,976 for the duration of the contract.
Which plan is better?
Availing yourself of a postpaid plan means getting into a two-year relationship, but you can always opt out for a fee. With Globe, you’ll get the best package if most of your contacts are also using the network, thanks to their unlimited calls and texts to Globe or TM. If you want a more business-like package, Smart’s calls and texts package to all networks is the better option. Call minutes are limited, but the discounted call rate to Smart and TNT is a nice offer. Data-wise, both are pretty much on par and they offer various data promos if you need more. You get better freebies with Globe, but if this is to be shared with your data allowance, you may want to get the streaming-only data promos.

The total cost of the plans on either phone doesn’t differ that much, which is good for subscribers. The choice between the two telcos will depend on your needs and also your circle of contacts. If re-contracting, you should ask about a loyalty offer.
You may check out the other postpaid plans of Globe and Smart on their respective websites. The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are up for pre-order, and will be available starting November 17.

GoTyme Bank, Visa partner for FIFA World Cup 2026 raffle giveaway
Win an all-expense-paid trip to the World Cup with your GoTyme Visa Debit Card
GoTyme Bank and Visa have officially teamed up for a FIFA World Cup 2026 raffle giveaway.
This gives Filipino football fans the chance to win an all-expense-paid trip to attend either the World Cup Group Stage or Final in the United States.
The partnership marks GoTyme Bank’s growing presence not only in the market but also in the global stage. Recently, the digital bank has grown to over 9 million customers in the Philippines, and 20 million worldwide.
Under the partnership, GoTyme Bank and Visa have released new limited-edition FIFA World Cup 2026-themed Visa Debit Cards.
These are available in two designs: Pitch Black and Trophy Gold. Both are designed by Filipino artist Ross Du, who incorporated the iconic tournament’s iconic trophy.
The latter, in particular, has some rarity as there will only be 20,000 copies printed in GoTyme Bank kiosks nationwide. Customers can have them printed starting March 23.
Print, Spend, Score
To join the raffle, cardholders simply have to spend at least PhP 1,000 for a raffle entry. That’s using the Classic or Pitch Black card.
Overseas spending also comes with a 3x multiplier, meaning three entries for every PhP 1,000 spent abroad.
Two winners — one Classic and one Pitch Black cardholder — will each win an all-expense-paid trip for two to attend the FIFA World Cup 2026 Group Stage in Los Angeles.
But even better, those who get the exceptionally rare Trophy Gold card will automatically get a raffle entry for the grand prize raffle draw — with no minimum spend required.
One Trophy Gold cardholder will win an all-expense-paid trip for two to attend the World Cup Final in New York City. This includes roundtrip business class seats as well.
In addition to the major prizes, 10 customers will receive exclusive FIFA World Cup 2026 Visa Premium merchandise.
The fly-off promo runs until May 7 for the Classic and Pitch Black cardholders and until June 10 for the Trophy Gold cardholders.

New SIHOO Doro C300 ergonomic chair launches with deals on Amazon
Now available in the US, UK
The SIHOO Doro C300 ergonomic office chair has been unveiled in the United States and United Kingdom with deals on Amazon and the SIHOO website available.
The chair is available in Black and Gray for an introductory price of US$ 279.99 / £ 259.99 on the SIHOO website.
That’s a significant reduction from the regular retail pricing of US$ 559.99 / £ 339.99. In addition, customers can get the product from Amazon US or Amazon UK for US$ 279.99 / £ 279.99.
The Doro C300 is developed around SIHOO’s self-adaptive dynamic lumbar support system. It automatically tracks body movement and continuously aligns with the natural curve of the spine without manual adjustment.
It uses the brand’s BM Tracking System to respond instantly to twisting, leaning, and reclining. This ensures consistent lower back support and stability, regardless of posture or position.
The real-time adaptive support moves in sync with the user. This dynamic approach helps reduce pressure on the lower back and promotes proper spinal alignment in the process.
The chair also features a flexible and fully breathable mesh backrest, built around a triangular elastic support frame. It naturally conforms to the body and moves side to side.
Moreover, a smart weight-sensing mechanism with integrated spring system automatically adapts reclining resistance based on the user’s weight.
The Doro C300 can support 110°, 120°, and 130° recline angles. On the top part is a neck and head support with extra-large 3D mechanical headrest. This, too, adjusts precisely in multiple directions and locks securely in place.
Furthermore, 4D armrests with soft PU padding adjust in multiple directions and synchronize with the backrest as it reclines for consistency.
Onto its seat cushion, the Doro C300’s seat is engineered to distribute pressure evenly across thighs and hips.
